    Lorna~
I have no idea where the kids are. I did hear that there was at least 1 older sibling in that family; I was actually thinking that there might be 2 older ones, not sure.
Because we don't have cable tv in our house, we don't see the news; and the only paper we get is our local county paper (surprisingly, there's enough scandal in that!). Anyway, I haven't heard about these explicit pictures, e-mails, etc.

I am attaching a copy of an e-mail that is going around the homeschooling community here in central PA...........
"You can't help but be aware of the tragedy that befell two homeschooling
families this week in Lititz. If you feel called to help in some way, refer
to the information below that came to me over another list. I have no
contact info, so anyone needing more details will need to contact the bank
    or Montery Chapel directly.

    Peace,
    Muriel

    11/16/05 Heard on WDAC radio...

Friends and neighbors are reaching out to the Borden family. A trust fund
has been established. If you want to help, you can send donations to the
Borden Family Trust in care of the Blue Ball National Bank, P.O. Box 448,
Lititz, PA 17543. A prayer service is planned for this evening at 7 pm at
the Borden's church, Monterey Chapel in Leola."

Sorry Lorna makes more sense now that I read it again. They are with family. The Bordens have two grown children in addition to the three at home.

There are always going to be ignorant people in this world:( . I can't believe someone would actually outright say that. That may be the reporters opinion, but to say that in a news broadcast...they are suppose to report it coming from a neutral standing.

I seen on the news last night a picture of the girl. She went to her parents funeral. It's so sad then they are saying they had sex and she had been seeing him behind her parents back. The boy had a dark side to him he was planning some other kind of things in the neighbor. I don't know I am so confused. I am hoping and praying the girl had nothing to do with this. But, hard to believe she didn't.
It's so sad. What are kids thinking now days?

I read that report on my computer's homepage too. I sure hope she didn't have anything to do with it. I just hate it so bad for everyone involved. Can you imagine the stress in each family right now. Man oh man do they need prayers.

I'm surprised at all the info that's coming out about this boy! Nighttime, armed raids on neighboring houses, planning for him and a buddy to have sex with the girl and her sister.
I was hoping it would end up that he was actually sad for what he did, but it doesn't look that way.
I'm wondering how he got all those guns, 50-something of them.

This girl will never be able to get away from this. Even when she's 90 years old it will be a weight upon her. I feel sorry for her when she truly sees what all she lost because she messed around with this kid.

I haven't seen any of that information!!! I've been looking. Keep in mind, however, that we don't get the local paper. Not that our local paper ever says anything, which is exactly WHY we no longer get it! As far as the guns go, without wanting to start another gun control controversy, that number is not unusual for a family where more than one member hunts. And the one article I DID see said that both he and his father were avid hunters. They also found pictures on the computer labeled "Deer Season 2004", or something like that.

Maybe Crystal can help to shed some light on the most recent news?!

As for the guns, I read too, Jackie, that they were a family of hunters and that they found alot of pictures of him and his family & friends with dead deer~ they made that sound like a bad thing, but anyone who knows guys who hunts, knows that they take alot of picture with their "kill".

I really hope that she was clueless as to what was going to happen, but like you said Becky~ it's not sounding good for her. And, she will be living with it for the rest of her life, regardless of whether or not she helped to plan it.

Becky and Heidi I agree with both of you. Yes, it's not sounding good for her and I hope she pays too. It's so sad. Not only for her but her brothers/sisters who have to go without a mom and dad because she wanted to go out with this young man. It's so sad.

Yes, up north hunting is a big thing and everyone has guns and pictures to show what they got. It's like a trophy for them to show what they got.

50 plus guns!?!?!? I know many avid hunters and they don't have that many. Maybe it's just the people I know, but even the hubby's parents who live on 100 acres of hunting land don't have that many. Maybe it's just me, but I would NEVER allow that many guns, if any at all, in my house. I would be too paranoid something like this would happen because you just never really know. It's heart wrenching.

It is sad at 16, That is the age we think we know everything and about 30 we realize just how much we didn't know.I dont't think she hasn't absorbed everything that happened. It is sad that all theese lives have been changed forever. She will be paying for what she did

50 guns sounds like a collector to me. I came from a family with 3 hunters in the house. Each averaged about 5 guns. For those who don't hunt, each game requires a different type of gun with different power, ammunition and range. We also have a couple bows for the same reason.

This case has me thinking back to when I was a young teen...I wanted to date this guy who was so "sweet" but my mom knew he smoked pot and was in trouble with the law on occasion...my parents refused to let me see him....and I obeyed, but not cheerfully. It's amazing what I was saved from if I were to give you a rundown of this guy's life now .

Reminds me of a few people my mom and dad made me cut ties with growing up with as well. Now I look back and am thankful for what they did. All of them have records and have gotten in lots of trouble.

See? Some of you are sharing how you could have easily gotten yourself "caught up" in a guy like this. I could have too. At 14, a girl really has no idea. Her parents tried to tell her that he was too old, and she wouldn't/didn't listen.
Crystal says that the two families knew each other and were friends. So, that tells me that Kara's parents didn't dislike this boy; they just thought that she was too young to date him (which 14 IS too young to date, but that would be a different discussion). As is the issue with the guns. It doesn't matter HOW MANY guns this family owned. It only took ONE gun to kill those two people.
And, now there's no turning back. The crime has been committed and this boy will have to be brought to justice.
Our responsibility, as part of the homeschooling community is not to stand in judgement, but rather to be praying for these two families~ that God will somehow bring about good from this seemingly horrible situation.

sometimes things just go wrong. It is very sad...Prayer is definitely the way to go. I think life is a test and we are going to be judged by our own standards.Istill want to se that justice is served.

    Shedding some light ~
Not coming from a hunting family myself, the 54 guns they found in the house sounds like a lot to me personally, but knowing a bit about the family I can tell you that they are avid hunters. Mr. Ludwig is also a military man and also participates in local civil war reenactments. It is my understanding Mr. Ludwig has a gun collection. The guns they found included these.
As far as anything that has to do with sex and other plans with friends to do harm - I just dont know and I dont think any of us will ever really know the whole truth.
I dont know either of the families on a personal level, simply know of them through our local homeschooling community. We are all still in shock and full of grief for all involved.
The media is still being pretty harsh. The Ludwig family is in a secret location. The church they attend had to cancel services yesterday morning due to the media.
I just keep praying for both families.
