i found out that the College of Piping here in my town has a "scholarship program" that offers, through the generosity of two lovely donors, free piping or drumming lessons to kids! i signed dd (10) up for drumming lessons and she is THRILLED! ...she went to music daycamp at our church this summer and she chose drums as her instrument there and loved it... when i told her today that she was now signed up for lessons, she bounced around and grinned and went through the roof  this is perfect timing, because part of our 'music' curriculum was going to involve her taking guitar lessons from a relative, but that person recently got offered a job in another province and will be leaving for a while...so finding this is awesome!
better you than me...I would nuts with the noise. lol. I am glad it made her happy. Kids need something they really enjoy to sucede at.
haha - we're used to noise ...her little brother is blind and everything he plays with makes a racket  i'm really glad they offer this -- like i mentioned, she was going to take guitar lessons from a relative, but he's moving away for a while....but also because we don't have much money and can't afford lessons in stuff like that (my cousin was going to teach guitar for free) ....so finding this is a double !! right now, with him leaving and with a lack of money for costly lessons.....and the time of week is even perfect, as it didn't land on a night her father works or on the night that kids club at the church is....couldn't have asked for a better time slot.
lol.. I was thinking you meant that sarcastically..but I guess not Really that is awesome!!! I wanted to learn the drums when I was a kid, but my mom said no way.. hubby is all for our kids learning them so yay to noise!
Wow, how exciting to find this just as you needed something! I hope she does well! When I was 12 I started snare drum lessons and loved it! But then the teacher had to move and couldn't do the lessons anymore. Best wishes to your dd on this new venture!!!
