I'm sure my family's not the only one taking a break this month. So, I was just wondering how everyone else will be spending their break.
Our break is this week & next week. I'm planning to rearrange the office (again), catch up on all the cleaning & stuff that we've been behind on since my hospital stay, and finish our book inventory. I've been working on an inventory of our home library. It's taking forever, mainly because I'm lucky if I have time to work on it one day a week. So, I'm hoping to finish it over our break.
In addition to the cleaning, there's the celebrating. Ds's b-day is tomorrow. We'll do something small - meal & entertainment of his choice. We won't do the big celebration until Feb. Plus, we have our Christmas celebrations (still not sure how many).
I also need to enter stuff into HST, and make sure the rest of our school year is planned, prepped, and ready to go. Well, that's my break.

So, what are all of you doing with your break? Are you planning & prepping for school? Are you deep cleaning, rearranging or redecorating your house? Is your break filled with holiday celebrations? Are you going to just put your feet up & relax?

    Going crazy!!!

I've already told Carl that next year, we are going to take off from Thanksgiving until New Year's. Or at least cut things WAY down. I'm getting the kids' Christmas pictures tomorrow, we haven't put together our gingerbread house yet, I'm spending today taking the kids' out to buy for each other and for their Dad, I've baking to do yet.... I went into total melt-down I think on Sunday, and am doing a bit better today.

I am enjoying the peacefulness of the house during break! we are baking cookies, sleeping in, watching movies, playing games, looking at trains and Christmas lights, and just generally enjoying each other. Our break really just started yesterday as we had two programs to finish up at Church on Sunday.

My oldest still has basketball practice but she's been sick so she's not going for this week. Other than that cleaning up the house and getting it ready for Christmas by the end of this week and next week I'm hoping we can bum around in our p.j's.

I'm trying to get caught up on the housework I've neglected. And hoping to go into labor at some point soon (seeing as how I was due Sunday).

After baby is born and I recover a bit, I desperately need to tackle cleaning the school room. It got so bad that we stopped using it completely! I could barely even get in enough to get my own homework done. But most of the mess is on the floor (thanks to my cats) so I have to wait until I'm not huge pregnant.

The boys actually aren't enjoying the time off. We're only on day two and they are already complaining about being bored. I'm sure if I was up to things like baking or crafting it wouldn't be so bad for them, but.. yeah.. that ain't happening. lol.

To those who actually get to relax & enjoy the time off, good for you! It's great that you're able to do that at this time of year.

To those that are having a stressful time right now, I really hope that things ease up for you. Try to take some time for yourselves - read a book, take a bubble bath - something just for you.

Amie, I hope the little one comes soon. What a great Christmas present, huh? I really hope you're lucky enough to be home for Christmas. Christmas in the hospital isn't that fun.

Some of the responses reminded me of stuff I have to do. Since our oven is broken, we're going to my mom's to bake cookies. She's made some for me, but we have to help if we want peanut butter blossoms (my fave). Plus, I need to finish our present to everyone (a DVD of the kids singing Christmas songs).

All our Christmas gifts are done. Yesterday we made 18 plates of cookies and delivered them to all the neighbors with a Daily Bread. So all baking is officially done. Dh is going across the bay to work tomorrow and will be gone over night. We are still doing school. We will take Christmas Day off and then New Years. We will be taking time off soon enough so for now we will keep on going. Dh's last day of work is the 30th so we will be moving to the next job and that will take time from school.

I am so happy that I got the whole week off from work! So, I plan on spending some of it just being lazy and hopefully playing board games with family. That is one of my favorite things to do. I also hope I can finish my son's quilt. It is 95% done. I want it done by Thursday, but it may not be done until the New year, just because I know myself and there are a few things I have to do tomorrow. We are going to put together a gingerbread house also. We already did one earlier this month, but we ate it all. So--I want to do it again. My son likes doing that. Other than that not to much, but that is enough.

This sounds much like what our family is doing this week. We've watched a lot of made-for-TV Christmas movies, slept in, and just enjoyed our family. My parents are supposed to arrive tomorrow and then we (Hubby, kids, girlfriend, and myself) will leave on Tuesday to go to visit DH's family and spend New Years with them.

I would really like to take a little longer next year but since our state requires a set number of days, I'm not sure how to go about this without them losing much of their summer.

The kids have been sledding on the hill across the street and then relaxing with hot chocolate and holiday movies. I have been baking almost non-stop and am looking forward to finally relaxing myself.

Christmas Eve we will get to enjoy our grandson, Elijah and Gianna's brother, who we have not seen or heard from in 10 years. He will be here tomorrow at 3:00. Christmas day and the next day will be spent with family. Christmas morining dh is picking up an elderly lady and bringing her here to be with us for present opening, since she has no one to spend Christmas with. Elijah will be spending Sat. with his brother all night and on Sunday, we will all go to chuch, with Jonah, too and then Jonah will spend the night with us! Early Monday, Elijah leaves for a 3 day church retreat in Michigan and will return on Wednesday. Gianna and I plan on having some girl time. It will be a very busy holiday, but a very exciting time. Looking forward to it. We are excited to "meet" Jonah:)

!!! I didn't know there was another one!!! How old is Jonah? How does Elijah feel about this? Hope all goes well. My uncle met his 40yo daughter, whom he hasn't heard from since she was a young girl, called him recently. They met at the library last week. The librarian let them use one of the study rooms, and they sat and talked for FIVE HOURS (!!!). It went VERY well, and it looks like a wonderful reconciliation has taken place.
