I am asking this for a friend who just bought this and wants to make sure she didn't make a mistake from those of you who have used the old version of TT Pre Algebra. Do you need the Textbook if your student likes doing everything on the computer, and how many CD's come with the program and list them please. Thanks
I have the whole Pre-Algebra set. It has one CD tht is the test solutions, four CDs in the Solutions set, three in the lecture and practice set, the Answer Key and Test Bank, and the big student book. We bought this for our daughter and then she went back to public school. I am asking $125.00 for the set if anyone knows someone who is looking for a whole set. In case I confused you, there are 8 CDs in all.
I'm assuming you don't need the textbook. This is based on the fact that it's not needed for those I've used...Geometry, Alg. 2, pre-cal. My son is currently in TT6, and the person we bought it from didn't have the book. He's about a fourth the way through it without any book.
I am not using the Pre Algebra but a friend used it last year- her daughter preferred the book but this year her other daughter likes the CD only- and so I would say no you do not need the textbook. I use grade 4 and I only look at the textbook to see what lesson my son will be doing but he does not need the textbook. Hope that helps!
If you are using the old version--You NEED the textbook. The cd's only go through the procedures and give the answers-they don't have a way for you to enter information. The new TT pre-algebra and algebra have a way to enter information on the computer.
I think all of ours are the older version. Rachael prefers using the textbook. She will check answers with the CD's if she isn't sure what's wrong. But there have been times when, after she's finished the chapter, she has come to me and told me that she's not comfortable taking the test yet. So what she'll do is re-do the chapter, this time listening to the lectures. Usually after going through it a second time like that she's ready to take the test.
Sorry I see you are asking about an 'old version' so it sounds like you need the textbook as cabsmom40 stated, I have a newer version.
I double checked with Rachael. She agrees with Cabsmom. The problems are only in the book, so you'd need the book for that. She says, though, that since the CD's explain every problem, you could go to the very beginning of each one, see the problem, stop the CD, solve it, and then check your answer before going on to the next. So she says TECHNICALLY you could get by without the book, but it'd really be a pain. With Phillip's math (Level 6), you do NOT. Am not sure which way PreAlgebra goes.
