OK, I see them. I've googled them, but I'm still a little unsure about them. What exactly are they, what do they do & how do you go about setting them up? Yes, I call myself a home school Mummy! THE SHAME!!!

We have only done a couple so far but I love making them with my girls. When we are finished with one they can show it to someone and go over whatever the subject was and it is amazing how much they learn. I know there are examples on here and pictures you can see. Try clicking on search up at the top of the page and then type in lapbook and several things will show up. I hope you have fun with these. Beth

I've seen some posts about them (jennifererix just posted one), but they were still a bit confusing. You'd think they'd be self-explan. but I just was not understanding. THNX!

I am looking into ordering some book that a friend lent me. They show how to do different kinds of lapbooks for different things. We have done a few of our books but nothing like the stuff in the books I want.
Someone on here posted a link to a YouTube video showing them. Showing that to my hubby got the okay to buy the books.
You basically take a subject (butterflies) and make mini books (we did 5 different butterflies) and put into a file folder. We did a mini picture with parts of the butterfly onto the file. It's all contained inside the file and you decorate the front.
I should have done pics but this was back in March around my DD's birthday. It has been sent to the Nana and Papa's.
The books I am ordering Big Book of Projects and Big Book of Books and Activies has what I been wanting to do for science and social studies. I am also wanting to get The ultimate lapbook handbook because it has some difference things in it that I liked.
If you want maybe I can figure out my scanner and scan a few pages for you to look at. Give me a PM, I can try to do it this weekend. Some one did this for me with a different book. I ended up buying that book as well.

Well I downloaded one on vehicles, so we'll see. We "start" on the 13th, so we'll go from there and see when & where we can fit it in. I also watched a vid on youtube that was really neat. THNX!

Lap books are like folders full of little cute folded things with pictures and information in them. They are a great way of doing a report or unit study on the subject at hand.
I plan on having my kids do them for History this year and add them to thier Binders "History According to... (*name goes here)

We are planning on doing one for Labor Day. We are doing a lot right now of "regular school" but I want to be able to keep a similar lighter load throughout the year like we are doing now.... so I'm throwing in a week of lapbooking with a few extras on different topics.

I haven't even had a chance to look at what I printed yet for it though - but I am already thinking of other stuff to do. I love the track that the LifePacs give me... but I personally need a little change up to keep it interesting and not just "boring school" - especially since I am trying to "de-school" them at the same time!

    **WARNING: THREADJACK IN PROGRESS**

Dana, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry I didn't get to come visit your farm while I was out there. Even being gone three weeks, we couldn't fit in all we wanted to! Maybe next time we head back there we can see ya'll!

That's fine :) No big deal - we've been so busy lately it hasn't been funny - we are headed to Hershey Park on Monday and I swear for me it's like a vacation....

Back to lapbooks - anyone ever see any good ones on spanish? Thought that might be fun

You could include maps of spanish speaking countries, and cultural information as well....bull fights, recipes for food, traditional spanish folk tales, history
