Not sure if there is a topic on this or not I did a search and didnt see anything.

I was wondering if you have heard of people getting sick in y'alls area?

So far Not really here, but they did close one of our local schools down with 3 students I think it said this week.

We are taking vitamins like crazy and if I go shopping I am taking wipes to clean the shopping cart handles with you can never be to careful. I am wondering if I should pick up some of those masks just to be safe later. Dont want to go overboard but hate when things run out.

We are home mostly this week that is good, but worry about hubby in a huge work enviroment.

    Yep.

The NY school with 8 kids who tested positive for swine flu is very near me. My dd's high school is about a mile down the road from it and she called me panicking this morning that 4 kids went home today with "flu-like symptoms". Ugh. I feel like we're in a movie.

I was just thinking about the Swine Flu. lol. I haven't heard of any cases here but I am in Ohio...it may take time to get up this way. Maybe it will be like the bird flu and never quite take hold??? maybe??? Scary stuff! From what I casually read it acts like the regular flu.

I would not get masks unless I heard of outbreaks in my area. However, I will be sure to sanatize carts, and things of that nature as I go out...and make sure my kids are washing their hands all the time. Mostly pray for God's protection. I will admit I get a little freaked out when I think of flus of this nature spreading around.

Scratch that....I looked it up and there is one reported case of swine flu in Ohio...about 90 miles from me. It's a 9 year old kid who got from a family trip to Mexico. UGH!

You know I was trying not to panic about this but when you hear them telling people from Europe to try not to fly down here to the States unless they have too and that Mexico city is pretty much closed down....well....

That's my biggest plan of action!
I live in a small community, so I think things will be safe for now. I've thought about getting masks for dh to wear to work if things get worse.
My mom has a friend who's sister got very sick, she called the doctor who said it is possible she has swine flu, she has to go in for testing/treatment.

Advise my dh got from our local public health nurse this am.

Keep about 3-4 ft. space between you and others when they are talking to you. Keeps their spittle from getting on your face.

Wash hands, clean off door handles, etc.

She is also vaccinating my ds and I for the flu again. My ds had childhood asthma and I have adult asthma.

We havent heard of any cases here. Do remember though, the flu is also airborn.

I haven't seen the news today but I do know that schools were closed today several counties up from us because of "flu-like symptoms" and apparently these students had recently been to Mexico.

they have 4 cases here in our town. We are staying close in here. I think maybe they should put us in panic attack, maybe everyone would stay home with the sick kids and not pass it on.

My pet pee is parent taking there sick kids to school to school because they can't miss work.

They are telling everyone to stay home if they are sick in anyway....

I HATE HATE HATE it when people bring sick kids out. People are church are famous for it. Drives me insane. One Sunday my baby was the ONLY baby out of five without a cold...well she got it the next week.

Seems this thing is spreading but so far the cases have not been worse than the regular flu. Hopefully this will decline soon. Yet, it could come back in the fall or winter much worse...scary thought. Also the tamiflu only works if you get it right away.

And to think I was unhappy that my family is down to one car...lol..I wouldn't be going anywhere anyway. Call me crazy but if this thing continues to rise I won't even participate in the neighborhood garage sale. I am also going to make sure my kids and dh have hand sanatizer and my dh has anti-bac wipes to wipe down the doorknobs in his office. Although, I don't see him thinking to use them unless someone actually comes down sick.

To temper panic...so far the cases seen in the US are mild and treatable.

I never knew so many people travelled to Mexico. They showed on tv a ton of Americans flying back home from Mexico because of this. Great...they should quarantine them to know for sure they aren't spreading it.

I hope you all stay well! So far we haven't had any confirmed cases around here. I've been washing hands and using the hand sanitizer more often in the past week.

There was this nasty flu that passed around my area from mid March to the beginning of this month. Just about everyone I knew in different parts of our state had it. They ran fevers for 6 to 7 days, had headaches, a cough, difficulty breathing and were dizzy and sleepy.

Unfortunately or fortunately my dh's company is doing extremely well this week because of the Swine Flu. A division of the company dh works for sells the surgical masks!

    Take Care!

The lady that does my hair said the first place people hit when they have called in sick to work is the beauty salon and the bank! She said she would prefer people stay home and not assume she wants to be sick.

We have a few cases here in Arizona...but that doesn't surprise me. I have hand sanitizer in my purse and make the boys use it if they touch something out when we are shopping or something..And when we are home I make them wash their hands. My problem right now is nosy people in the grocery line. My littlest one has very bad allergies and they are acting up something fierce giving him a terrible cough...we are treating him with allergy medicine and nebulizer treatments but still he has a cough...it can't be helped and some nosy woman at the grocery store told me that I should be ashamed of myself bring my child out in public when he could be infected with the swine flu! I NEVER take my children out in public when they are ill...but seriously I'm supposed to keep him locked up in the house for months just because he has severe allergies and we can't figure out what he's allergic to?

(((( )))) I have asthma and with asthma comes a cough. People look at me like asthma is contagious. If that woman truly thought it was the swine flu she would not have stood there giving her vial diatribe, silly!

I have allergies every year in the Spring. If I am out somewhere and notice someone looking at me I just smile and say I'm not sick I just have allergies. My son who is mentally handicapped has been hearing about the swine flu and now he has a cold. He keeps saying he hopes it isn't swine flu. He really just has a cold!

I just wish sometimes that people would learn to mind their own business. I don't wander around giving other people lectures on how they should or should not behave and I don't expect others to do it to me.

Well one woman near the border recently died she was so young too around 31yr. I hear its not so bad as orginally thought, just a really bad flu.

We have been out of the house a few times and now I carry wipes in the car and some gel on my key chain to wash my hands just in case.

HEB has been great they make sure their wipes near the carts are always filled up. I wish Walmart would do the same thing.

We have had 61 confirmed cases here in Tx I thought it would be more by now. I am in Medina county none yet so that is good!

My ds has to travel to a town where Mexican nationals come to work. He/we are concerned about him being exposed to Swine Flu since only about 5% of his clients are from the US. Anyway, he asked his boss about the plastic shield with the round thingie where you can talk like the public health office has. She said, and I quote, "If it comes to that, you will be wearing a mask"! OMGosh! How irrisponsible, either put up the shield or close the office down until it is safe again.
