Wondering how Deena is doing. I hope you did great Deena and have a restful, pain free night. You are still in my prayers. Beth
Deena, Remembering you in prayers tonight. Hope all went smoothly. Try to rest. Let the family take care of you. --the other Deanna
I am just checking in quickly. Thankyou for your prayers! The dr. said he thinks things went very well, so that makes me happy! I have a rip-roarin' headache and cramps, and feel very tired out right now. I'm hoping I get good sleep tonight and will feel better tomorrow. I'm sure I will! The way I feel is rather normal for what was done, so I'm not worried about it! I can give more details tomorrow, too tired now, but I HAD to see the encouraging words from my friends here! Thanks again soooo much for your thoughts and prayers! You guys are awesome! Love to all of you from me!
I'm so glad it went well and that you posted! I'm praying now that you are sleeping comfortably and that you have a good day tomorrow, with as little pain as it is reasonable to hope for. ~ Marylyn
Deena, I hope you slept well and are over the bad headache and cramps. I was hoping we would hear from you today. Sounds like things went well and I am so happy for you that it is over. The dreading surgery is always the hard part for me. Rest and heal now. Beth
I read about both types of procedures on a previous thread--using electrical current or hot water. They sound reasonable. I hope the worst is over now and that you'll soon be better than ever. Our support group went on a field trip yesterday, so our family prayed for you en-route to see the Titanic exhibit and again after seeing the movie, "Amazing Grace." As I check on your progress here, I'll keep them updated.
Thanks for cking in with an update. You have had lots of prayers gone up for you and we will continue to pray for your recovery.
Deena, we are praying for you, Sure glad you are up and moving my friend. We thinking of you. The cramps are normal you might want to rock them out. that is what I did it helped some.
Hope you are doing better today! Just remember that in the long run, you WILL feel better because you won't have the problems this surgery was ment to take care of! Let us know how you are whenever you can! Love ya girl
Man, you guys make me almost cry with your good thoughts and wishes, and taking time to pray for me even when you're busy! Thankyou so much, and may God bless you for being so thoughtful! The people that worked with me were very nice, and the doctor has great bedside manners! He doesn't act rushed, and shows concern for how his patient is feeling! So that all was very comforting, because I felt that I was in good hands! There were two RN's that did the pre-op stuff. One of the RN's found a vein for the IV and poked the needle in. As she was moving it into place, it swelled and leaked, so I had a huge bump and black and blue mark there. She had to pull the needle out and put pressure on the area. So the other RN prepared my other hand, found a vein and poked the needle in. The blood squirted out and dripped on the floor and side of the bed! None of it hurt, needle don't bother me, so it was more funny than anything. About then the doctor came in and asked how things were going. I said, "I'm giving these ladies problems!" He said the lady before me had given more problems, so I said, "Okay, fine by me, I'll let her win!" I gave my kids the choice of going or staying home. My oldest is almost 16, so he's old enough to be in charge. He chose to stay home but my 13yo ds and my dd wanted to go. After they got the IV in and warm blankets on me (that felt so good!), they brought in dh and kids. They were able to stay for awhile while everything else was ready. Then, they said goodbye and left. A different nurse came to wheel me into the surgery room. As we were going along, I said, "Wheeeee!" She laughed and said, "No wonder the anesthesiologist didn't give you happy gas, you're happy enough as it is!" She said they often give that to patients before taking them into the surgery room to help calm them, but that I seemed so calm already, he chose not to give it to me. That was fine with me. The less drugs in my body the better! The anesthesiologist then wanted to put a gas mask on me so I could breathe oxygen before putting me out. I asked if he could just put me out, THEN put on the mask. The nurse asked if I got claustrophobic, and I said yes. (I do NOT like those masks!) So they complied! I felt swirly for a minute or so, then the next thing I knew I was slowly waking up and they said it was all over and went well! I didn't even remember closing my eyes! When I was awake enough the nurse asked if I was feeling quesy, I told her I was starting to, so she gave me something to help me not get worse---it worked! She said that's what they give to chemo patients to help them not throw up. Then she gave me some cranberry juice and 4 saltine crackers. After I was done with the crackers she gave me a Vicoden for the cramps and initial pain. Then they got my dh. They had slowly been putting the head of my bed up so I'd get used to that. DH helped me get dressed, then we headed home. I left that message, so you know how I felt last night. I slept okay, and was able to just stay in bed as long as I wanted this morning, so that was good! I had a bad headache this morning also but it's better now, and I really don't feel that sore or anything now! So there's probably much more than you wanted to know! But I praise God for getting me through well, and for you all for praying for me! I KNOW the prayers helped!!!
Deena, I couldn't wait to see how you were progressing, so I clicked on this thread before I logged in. This is so funny--for my name, instead of typing "Prairie" for Prairie Home, I typed "Praising." !!! I'm praising God with you!
Deena, they gave Donald Benadryl for nausia when he got chemo. sorry you had to get poked a few times. I remember when i would go back to the surgery area with donald, they would put the stuff to get him asleep in the IV and it was less than a minute before he was asleep, they let me hold him until he was, I would climb off the table after that.
I am so glad to hear you are okay. I have thought about you today while I was working at the church and was so happy to see you had posted an update. Keep resting up while you can. Beth
