Sometimes, I really dislike people. We were at my mom's today, having a cookout. We were just getting ready to go when I happened to look over at the neighbor's. Their bratty little boy was beating their dog. He was punching it, slapping it, and pushing it. His dad was outside for some of it & didn't say anything to him. Then, the kid grabbed a bat & started chasing the dog, swinging the bat at it. He also went after the puppy with the bat.
My sister's fiance said something to the kid when he was chasing the dog with the bat. My phone isn't working right now. So, we drove past the house, wrote down the address, and gave it to my mom so they could call and report it.
I just hate people who treat animals like that. These people know their child is treating the dog badly, yet they don't do anything about it. I really hope the authorities do something, like take the dogs away. This family obviously doesn't deserve to have pets.

That is just terrible, you did the right thing. (((( ))))

My ds witnessed the neighbor kid shoot someone's cat and then toss the poor kitty into the dumpster like it was trash. My ds came into the house really pale and told me what happened. I called the sheriff and he told me there was nothing he could really do, he would need proof. Well, um, the cat didn't shoot himself and thow himself into the dumpter to die!

Brandi..so sorry you and your children had to see that. It's horrible how people treat animals. I had to call the other day on a horse kept in a small pen with no shade and a small bucket of water and the temp was over 100. Thankfully they came right away and took the horse from the pen.

MamaBear...isn't it crazy how some people think? Seriously was your child witnessing the incident not proof enough? Some places just don't take animal cruelty seriously, but other places I tell you even look at an animal sideways and they are on it. Thankfully we live somewhere where it's not tolerated.

I'm sorry your family had to witness such behavior. I feel like the child is definitely in the wrong, but for the adult to do nothing and let the behavior go on is worse.

I hope the police came and at least gave them a warning.

It is scary to see stuff like that because psychologists have tied that type of behavior to sociopathic behavior in adults. A kid who lights cats on fire in the basement is a budding arsonist/serial killer. Frightening. These kids need some counseling or SOMETHING fast.

Thats sad really.... feel sorry for what your dd has witnessed... and for the other people's children who went through the same... if you have some animal rights groups in the area you can give them a head's up... most are very active when it comes to defending animals and do so with a passion.

(((hugs))). That is sick. Reporting abuse like that is always the right thing.

I think what disturbs me most is that the dad was indifferent to the whole thing. If one of my kids were to do something like that, you can bet we'd make sure it NEVER happened again!!!

I was pretty upset about it. I don't understand how a parent can let their child do something like that. The dog will eventually end up biting the kid. Then the dog will be destroyed, & it won't matter that it was the kid's fault. I just hope something gets done before that happens.

Mamabear - I can't belive they didn't do anything. You would think that a corpse with a gunshot wound & a witness would be enough proof to do something. I'm so sorry your ds had to see something like that.
