    Hi,

We just started using Saxon 1 this last week and I really like it but I was wondering...

    1. Do you keep the meeting strips after you are done with them or do yo throw they away?

    2. How long do you keep the worksheets they do every day?

    3. On the days that you do a written/oral evaluation do you do an actual lesson that day too, or just the evaluation?

    Thanks

We never got into the whole meeting strips thing - but generally I keep everything for the year and then get rid of it all at once. We never did oral evaluations either! LOL..I really didn't follow that too well did I!
I guess doing a lesson and an oral evaluation together would depend on if your child is up to it.

My son LOVES test days (with Teaching Textbooks) because he doesn't have to do a new lesson...weirdo...it is the same amount of work! Just seems like closure I guess.

We've always used Saxon math, simply because it's what works for us. In answer to your questions, I keep everything for 2 years. After that, I keep samples of the work for a permanent porfolio and discard the rest.

Yes, on the days of testing or evaluation we also do an actual lesson. However, when my children were younger, we did not do a lesson on eval/test day. Do what works for you and your child. Not all kids can handle a lesson in addition to the other.

We use Saxon math and only use the tests and text book. Since technically we are enrolled into a charter school (but they are very loose and we only have to do what they call sample week twice a year) they have the records of almost anything we need. But I keep our work anyway just in case.
