Ok, ds has been able to read for a while. He usually refuses to, though, unless we're reading a book together. Yesterday, he read the story he needed to read in Beyond the Code bk 1 without asking for any help. Then, today while I was sitting in the living room reading, he sat down with a book & read.
I'm just so happy. He's enjoying reading more & is finally willing to do it on his own.:D

That's awesome! It's so nice when we get those changes in our children. I hope he continues to take to reading.

Thanks! He does everything in his own time. So, as long as I know he knows how to do something, I don't force the issue. We're still having some issues with potty training. We bought him a potty chair at 2. He's just recently started using the toilet regularly to poop (he turned 5 in Dec).
Since I knew he knew what he was doing, I haven't forced it. When I read to him, if he wants to help me read he can, if not I'm fine with that. I've just been waiting for him to decide that he wants to do it. I really think it's a confidence thing. He waits until he's confident in his ability before he really starts to do something.
