blogger's profile page with the poems i'm under the assumption that he wrote these, so © to Mister Andrew Misiura - if he didn't, then, well, to whomever did
I love that! Everytime I hear another liberal antict to oppress Christianity I always say, "so much for the party of tolerance." I have a Christain friend who worked with an nonChristian woman. They became friends. My friend didn't make a big deal about the bible or anything. The woman we worked for was very liberal and did not believe in God. My friend sat and listened to her philosophies again and again with no remarks or agreements. She just politely changed the conversation. Well, the woman than asked my friend's beliefs. When this lady heard my friend was a conservative Repulican Christian she NEVER spoke to my friend again. HA! Begs the question: Whose rights are really being protected? Is it freedom for all or just freedom for some?
I'm perfectly fine with no prayer in school (you knew that didn't you Ava Rose! ). I really don't want a government institution intruding on my children's faith (assuming they went to school). I think that every time we give a government institution, like a public school, some piece of our life to administer, like our religion or faith, we're creating a deal with big strings attached.
I saw you responded and I thought "here we go!" Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about prayer in school. I think that a child should be able to pray before eating or in a hallway (before a test...lol) without fear of suspension or action by the school. However, if the schools allow that they may be fearing opening a can of denominational worms. lol. So, I guess I would have to hear more sides to the issue before making my decision.
They came from a very talented author. I too am ok with no prayer in school. I remember how uncomfortable it made the kids of other religions when we would have prayer, or Christmas music that was very religious based. (Now they stick to like Frosty the Snowman and Winter Wonderland). I don't feel the kids should be "prosecuted" for saying a prayer, as long as it is kept to themselves and they aren't trying to convince others that their beliefs are wrong.
I think anyone who wants to pray should be able to. I don't see it as government intruding on children's faith because it isn't like the government would be preaching to the kids. Just allowing kids to pray. And I think that should encompass all faiths. I mean if a muslim wants to pray to Allah (or however you spell it) they should be able to do that just as christians should be able to pray to our God. Schools used to not be so bad as they are now. The more they push God away the worse the schools get. Coincidence. Some may think not but I think so.
Ok, so don't allow teacher led prayer in public schools. However, when I was in school, kids were being suspended for praying by themselves over their food. They've taken it too far
I think I probably agree! I'm against a teacher led prayer or anything the school might do but I think any child should feel perfectly safe and secure in saying a prayer when and if they need to. I was only thinking of the issue in terms of something like a mandatory or imposed time if prayer...Not a child's private prayer. I didn't realize that was an issue and I'm certainly against punishing a child for praying in school. There Ava Rose, we may sort of agree on this one!
