My dh is in the emergency room right now. . . We think he tore a ligament in his leg. Has anyone done this--does it always require surgery? My husband is a teacher. . .he teaches sports to preschoolers. . .but he doesn't work in a school. He works with a private company. Point is--he really needs his legs in good working order. So please pray a) that he makes it home safely tonight and b) please pray that it doesn't require surgery and/or that he doesn't have to miss any work. Thanks ladies!
I am so sorry he got hurt I have torn all the ligaments and tendons in my one leg. I had to wear a brace, use crutches and rest it as much as possible... meaning I was out of work for a week or so. That may not always be the case, I do know that sometimes the tears can require surgery, it depends on the extent of the tear. Mine, luckily, weren't too terrible although they were very painful. It took a long time for them to heal completely but I was back to work pretty quick.. and I had a fast pased on your feet kind of factory job at the time. I will pray that he recovers quickly!
Thanks so much. . . He has a muscle tear which thankfully will not require surgery. Lots of ice and lots of rest but no surgery. He's supposed to take off most of this week and as of now is not planning on doing so. Love the man but I could kick him in the teeth. I am just trying to convince him that the quickest way back to physically active is by being as unphysically active as possible right now. In any case, thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers.
Oh, sneaky mama, The problem with NOT taking off now is that it could cause permanent problems! It is NOT convenient to take time off, but it could mean the difference between healing, and always having problems!!! PLEASE tell him that! As hard as it is to do, he could prevent further and worse pain, and is risking surgery which would make him HAVE to take much more time off than he would have to right now!!! Praying for him!!!
You're preaching to the choir. If you are in the NYC area you're welcome to come over! Everyone is telling him this. I think he knows this. He's just a pain in the rear end when it comes to stuff like this. So is his dad. So is his grandfather. Must be genetic.
Thanks guys for your prayers--we ended up going to my in-laws. That way dh could rest and I could get help with the kids. I was a little overwhelmed and feeling like a big weany head for being overwhelmed. It seems like everyone else I know is able to do everything and then some. I think I need to get some underacheiving friends! In any case dh rested, must go back to work tomorrow but I'm sure he'll take it easy--he has no choice. Thanks again ladies! Keep praying when you think of us--he'll need crutches for at least another few weeks or so.
SN, so glad to hear that dh was able to rest and you were able to get some extra help, too. Will continue to pray as he goes back to work.
Thank you all very much! DH is walking, I survived 'single' motherhood and things are sort of back to normal.
