I just got an email saying that pepsi's patriotic cans have omitted the words "In God we trust" from the pledge, so they won't offend anyone. The point of the email was to say that these products shouldn't be purchased because the officials at pepsi might be offended when they receive our money on which is printed "In God we trust"!
Nice point! Maybe I am offended they took "in God we trust" off the can! I know you can't please everyone but there is far too much tolerance in the world today. lol.
FYI, that particular email has been circulating for about 7 years. It is an urban legend. The real culprit was Dr. Pepper and the entirety of the Pledge as quoted on the can was "One Nation...Indivisible". It was meant as an act of patriotism after 9/11. The company felt those three words best summed up the way the nation felt after the attacks. A) It was not Pepsi B) They left out the majority of the Pledge, not just the words "under God". c) The "offending" cans have been off the shelves for more than 5 years. Here is the Snopes article on the rumor.
Thanks, Amie, for pointing that out. I literally just got the email today. It's funny how these things make their rounds. I have gotten repeat emails before that I originally got a few years ago but this one I didn't recognize as one I've gotten before. So, sorry for the inaccurate info ladies!!
No worries, Kyzg, I myself had shared a few posts that I later found out were full of false info! LOL.
