My daughter (11th grade) wants to take the One Year Adventure Novel writing course. But at the cost of $239, I figure an online course with actual teacher feedback would be better. Does anyone know of a good online creative writing program for high school?
My philosophy about "creative writing" is that if they're meant to be a writer, there's not much you can do to stop them. If they're not, there's not much you can do to make them be one. But everybody can learn to write effectively, so they do need to learn the writing skills that they can apply to any writing task. So I do insist on the practical writing skills - good sentences, good paragraphs, letters, essays, articles, narratives, research reports and research papers, and what have you. I don't have any writers. But I hope you find what you're looking for.
You may want to check with your library, they may have a writing program, our local library has a group of writers that get together once a month to read their work to each other, instant feedback.
Soverbose has some creative writing programs http://www.soverbose.com/#!creative-writing-classes/c1rqe
