I love all Christmas music I just can't listen to it 24/7. I miss my praise and worship music and won't get it back until December 26th!! I wish the Christian station would play both Christmas music AND it's regular music during this holiday season. I only have a few Christian CD's and can't afford to go ut and buy all the ones I like so I depend on KSBJ for that. We also celebrate other aspects of Christmas - I just miss my music!!

I am sure all Christian stations are run differently. Ours does play a few songs that are considered secular but have positive messages in them. There is a song, and I can't remember the actual name of it...the ending goes "the rest is still unwritten". That gets played on ours a lot. So do a couple others.

I have never heard the hippopontamus song though, or the other one you mentioned. I haven't heard anything on our station that I would consider close to that or innapporpriate for a Christian radio station. Maybe that's why I am not seeing the issue, because ours seems to have a good balance and flow that they follow. It's called The Fish...their logo is the Christian fish. :D

I do miss the regular Cont. music too during this time. Because I sing in our worship band at church, I like to listen for songs that we use because I don't have the money to go out and buy CD's. Hearing the songs on the radio gives me the opportunity to practice and record them off of there if I hear them. I guess I'm stuck winging it this month!

Jennie, I agree with you, our station don't play those kind of songs. I have never heard of them. But, they sound something a kid would like. I guess I am also missing the point.

I would guess that it is a sign of financial trouble for the station, or they are taking the opportunity to lower operating costs.

Those Christmas songs are likely lower cost in terms of royalties for them to play.

No, I think it's more of what they think people want to hear. Though I must admit that my daughter asked to be reminded not to listen to them today. I guess they didn't make their goal during pledge week, and are spending most of today trying to raise more money. I don't generally listen to them anyway. They use to be a combination of music during the day, and "talk" in the evenings. THey would have Adventures in Oddysey and Focus on the Family's Radio Theatre, etc. Now they're "just" music. I felt before it had just the right balance.
