I just found out that there will be a Remax hot air balloon festival in town this weekend..I would love to something with Madison to learn the basics of hot air balloons. We will have friday afternoon to study them. tomorrow is a quick day of school, I work in the afternoon and then friday morning Im having a stress test done. Saturday we will go visit/see the balloons and watch them lift off. I hope to lay in the grass and watch them from below too.

any ideas what we can do?? or links? Thanks!!!!

Go to Home Science Tools dot com (I can't get a link to work- sorry)- and put hot air balloons in the search. There is an interesting article on gas and pressure and hot air, etc- plus a NASA link, etc. Remember, not all of the studying needs to be done beforehand- one of my sons learns better AFTER seeing something than before. So early next week she can still be studying them. I don't remember how old she is, but maybe you can even do an art project or a craft along with it?

Have fun! We went to one and my husband took several dozen pictures- that was fun to make a collage for the wall, cutting the pictures in to different shapes, etc.

You could make a hot air balloon with a small paper cup, some string and a helium balloon. I know my nine year old loves making things that go along with what we have learned. They just made an electro magnet and next they are making a compass with Freddy. Wish I could see all the hot air balloons with you. I love to see them. Have a great time. Maybe you can take pictures to show us? Beth

Look at the new thread called "Look What I Found" on the section "HOmeschool" that we are on now...there is a link to a website with free downloads. There is one on hot air balloons! I did not download it so I am not sure if it is any good but it worth a shot!
