Have you guys heard that King Tut's treasures are coming to the United States? It's only going to be in three or four museums. Los Angeles, Chicago, Philedelphia....maybe Texas?...don't remember! I did look at ticket prices, because Chicago is do-able for us if we wanted to take a weekend and make a big deal out of it. But it's like $25 for adults, and $15 for kids 6-11. Sigh....... But can you imagine seeing that? DH says he's rather see the pyramid itself
king tut We are going with our homeschooling group to the exhibit in LA. Somehow we got an extremely low group rate (I think it was $6). It might be worth investigating getting a group together. We can't wait to go!
OH MY OH MY.......NO I DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT IT.......... Where can you find out about it?..........we will make that our family vacation....I will need one after we move
It's too far away for a group. Chicago is about 7 hours away from us, and that's the closest location. Tina, do a search. I thought I had the site bookmarked, but of course I can't find it now that I'm looking! If I find it, I'll post the site.
How neat! I actually went to see the exhibit when I was in 3rd grade! That was fun and very educational. I don't think we'll be traveling to see it with the kids. The closest for us would be Ft. Lauderdale and we already have too many trips planned as it is!
Jackie... That was fast, I didn't even have time to search.....it looks wonderful...Wow, looks like we can't miss this...... Yep, ft. Lauderdale looks like it will be closer..Only day and half or so drive there..... WHOOO HOOOO WHEEE.  ...now to plan the vacation around that time and when.....
And I thought *I* was crazy, wanting to go "just" seven hours away!!! Oh, and I DID see that group rates start at $6.
Jackie, I'll check out the group rates, too. We would be going to Chicago (I have a brother there...about 3-4 hours away). I'm thinking with careful planning we could throw our own group together and meet there! We were already planning on going there this summer anyway. Let me know if you think making a joint effort would work for group planning.
I'm thinking the Chicago dates weren't until next summer. And it said the tickets were only for ONE HOUR! Maybe we could work something out...if I can come 7 hours, you could come 4!
I couldn't open the site for some reason. I was thinking it was this summer. Anyway, I'd still want to go! My husband and son are mummy-crazed....dh is already anxious!
I'm thinking of backing out on you already, Brooke! I just realized how close Philly is, and I've got a cousin that lives there. Plus with Independence Hall, etc., we could make a big deal out of it. But that's not until 2007, so I've got time to consider!
Jackie~ If you're coming to Philly, maybe us "Hershey Chocolate People" can plan a reunion! That would be wonderful! Heidi
Wow! 2007? Hope we can remind ourselves by that time that we have a date with a mummy  . That is a while ahead for me to plan anyway. The best laid plans of mice, men and homeschooling moms.....
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness (shades of Shirley Temple!)...... Hey you guys, we will probably be in Maryland sometime in the summer of 2007, which is when the exhibit will be in Philadelphia, right? That's only about a 3 hour drive, I think, from where we'll be! Do you think we could work out a date so my family could meet up with ya'll there during that time??! That'd be sooo cool!!! And seeing the Tut exhibit would be just amazing!!!
Huh? Why'd I show up as Guest? That's never happened before! This is Deena that wrote the previous "Oh my goodness..." message. That's strange  :?
Sorry for so many e-mails from me!!! BUT...I just noticed: Happy 1 year anniversary of being at Homeschool Spot yesterday, today and in the next few days to: TinaTx, Heidi, Brooke, me and anyone else I may have missed. It's been a good year, and we've settled in pretty well! Love to all of you!!! And THANKS to Amanda!!! Btw, Jackie, you were a bit slow loggin' in here, so we'll have to congratulate you later  ( I know there are more, I just happened to notice it on this thread)
I was there, Deena, just slow in becoming official. Sort of seeing how things would work out first. You only need ten people for g roup rates, I think. With the size of Crystal's family, we'd have it easy! Heidi, Jimmy Lu, Deena.... That's a good start! OK! No one go anywhere for the next two years!
Deena~ Wow! You're coming to visit this side of the country?! That would be great if we could make plans to all meet up for a big field trip- what an awesome opportunity that would be. Jackie~ You can be the tour guide this time around, since you "introduced" us to King Tut! Oh, and thanks for the anniversary wishes, Deena- I never would have realized we've been here a whole year- wow!
