I thought we'd battle it all out today. Shows what I (don't) know about how it all works. Because we claimed it was retaliation, we were given a trial date. We requested a jury trial. Because the landlords finagled the lease they might get us on our pets. Yes, we were naive and stupid in that respect. They gave us verbal permission, but never corrected the lease to reflect that. And yes, we signed it believing that she would write the amendment  My DH had a one-year landlord/tenant relationship with the people that appeared to be a very trustworthy relationship. So much for that. . .

Anyway, I think a jury will be good because we need to rely more on the emotional side of arguing. It will be what it will be, I guess. Thank heavens I've calmed down. I think I just needed to come to the point where I realized I could lose so much, and accept it. I thought that was going to happen today, and now that I faced that fear I don't think it will rattle my cage so much the next time.

What an interesting lesson this has been in not only trust, but in human character. It is amazing how depraved some people will become over greed and power. Honestly, I have never met people who are as low as this family. Even hell is too good for them and I hope all the money they've swindled from tenants will buy them an extra-hot spot there.

We don't. They don't deserve tenants like us. I LOVE the apartment and was SO happy to move here. Planned on being here maybe even 3 years! But. . . and here's why I'm missing HSing--the girls are in school! What jerks would throw GOOD tenants out so close to the end of the school year? On that note, 2 of the 3 girls want to homeschool again. I thought I might be ready to get back into it, but it looks like we we still be quite unsettled. Well, this is the direction we must move in, for whatever reason. Only hindsight will tell us why.
