I just finished Rod & Staff first grade and starting 2nd grade this week. I wanted to switch to Unit Studies after the 2nd grade, but should I wait till after 3rd grade?

I was thinking that 2nd grade should give them a firm enough foundation.

    What do you think?

Sorry I have been absent for a long time. But my house is kept and clean and my family is more happy with me not on the computer.

Personally, I think unit studies work best the younger the kids are!

Really? Okay. I read some other things when I did a search on here. Ans saw one common theme.

Kids seemed to retain better with unit studies.

Is it a lot of work on my end?

Anyone do them and only them? It seemed like most who do US do it as a supplement and I want to use it as a replacement, accept for math.

Thanks for that Jackie, I appreciate the quick response. Very sweet of you.

I've never personally done the unit study thing but I've heard good things about Tapestry of Grace and (I think) Winter's Promise for pre-fab unit studies. I think ColoradoMom has some neato unit studies too. Her site is http://www.the-simple-homeschool.com .
