that I HAVE to watch the school closings lists when the weather is bad. Seriously, I am compelled to sit in front of the TV until I see that whatever district we live in is closed. I am pretty sure that I will do this my entire life because my mom still does it, too, and she retired 3.5 years ago.

Everyone here is out tomorrow for ice. We are staying inside!!

Not me. I only find out about those things when one of Catherine's friends shows up at our door wanting to play in the middle of a math lesson.

I watch to see if my grandson is out and if the teachers are out where my daughter teaches. Old habits die hard I guess.

I too have to know when if they are school closings. I get up and jump online to check. DH and the kids think I am nuts for doing this.

We do, too, but partly because my husband's a teacher. It was engrained in me to watch ALL the closings, because when I taught, I taught Special Ed. My kids came from all the surrounding districts. Even though we were open, I might only have one or two kids out of eight.

I guess, we don't get many school closing due to weather.

I think its interesting when they talk about school lunches on the news though--- in WA they did every day, not so much here.

I still watch the closings. As a kid always to find out if we had school, then sometimes college was closed (a couple of times)!!! I stopped watching it. Then when I was subbing in ps I got up & ready to go & looked at the TV while I was eating breakfast 2 hour delay because of fog & no one called!!! Now I still watch it, even though I don't need too. I usually do to let my neighbor know if she has school or not!!!

    Snow Day

I think it is ingrained in me too! I'm sitting here sipping on my coffee watching all the school closings. All the schools around the area are closed today.
