Katie is now in 6th grade. We homeschooled for the first year last year. She did okay, but kept stressing she wants to go to the local charter school for HS.

Amanda is in 2nd, and she has no desire to go to PS.

I am thinking I might put Katie in for the lottery for the charter school and still homeschool Amanda.

Anyone split the way they teach?

There was a time when we pursued all available options at the same time: a couple in a private Christian high school, one homeschooled for middle school, two in PS for elementary school, and one at a part-time pre-school.

Basically, we've done whatever works for each child and tried not to be dogmatic about our choices. Our youngest son for example, is now an excellent tuba player, and the only band option available to him is at the local public high school - where he can also do ROTC. So be it.

All 15 of our DC have been home educated. I have heard of a few people that do some at home and some elsewhere.

We are doing that this year. I only have my 5yo homeschooling this year we are doing a mix of kinder/first grade since he did kinder last year with my now 6yo. My 6yo however wanted to go to the Christian School at our Church and since they use a curriculum I like I was willing to let him go. It works pretty good for us because really with the new baby I had no clue how I was going to pull off teaching two and the baby...now I don't worry as much since my 5yo can only sit still for short periods of time anyway.

I have sent my oldest out for high school as he was the one who stressed the need to go out , I prayed about it and God provided the $$ for private school to the perfect amount. IT was good for him, the rest of us got more done with out dealing with his extra struggles as well, not that it was bad, he just was a stubborn learner, told me he would nto learn something if he didn't want to no matter what I taught him, lol
Dd is out today is her first day out, its her senior year, we decided together that she shoudl have the fun of a Senior year out after she watched her big brother and all he went through in his first school she chose our church's private school that is run like a home school. She thinks she has the best of both worlds cause her teachers were home school teachers!
I also get to teach two of her classes!
ds last one has no desire to go out untill same as dd becausehe wants to graduate at oru church school,

lol SO ya it can work!
