After reading the ceder point thread, it made me wonder if anyone here knows of other hs days out there in the world.

I would love to take my kids to a place where it is mostly hs kids for a day.

I took my son to a home school day at the Museum of Science and Industry last month. It was great =)

Check the websites of your local museums, zoos, performing arts centers, stuff like that, to see if they have anything. A lot of those places provide event calendars online to see upcoming events.

Swayde is right- if museums and the like in your area have hs days, it will be on their site. Look for 'education' or 'teacher' or 'schedule your visit' links.

If you live near a theme park of some kind, they probably have one but don't promote it. Six Flags, for example, has one but doesn't promote it so as to keep it from the standard public eye. So, for places like that, I'd recommend calling around.

We're going to a local farm/pumpkin patch next week that's having a homeschool day, and our zoo and an area drive-through wildlife park also have homeschool days and classes.

Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, and Yorktown Victory Center all have HS weeks (very reduced price). We have enjoyed them a lot since we live so close but I know families that plan their big vacations around these days too.

Other museums in our area also offer free homeschool days...VA Living Museum, Mariner's Museum, VA Air & Space Museum, Nauticus, etc.

We have about 1800-2000 homeschoolers from Williamsburg to VA Beach and the museums know it

The next HS days in Colonial Williamsburg are the last week of Feb/first week of March. I don't know if Jamestown/Yorktown have released them but they are usually at about the same time for families to maximize the trip.

We just missed going there this last time, Rhonda!!! It was 10.50 pp, and got you into both places. We skipped it because a class I wanted Jeannie in was full. It would have been like a 4 hour drive, but the class would have made it worth it.

Legoland has several home school days throughout the school year. The price is significantly reduced as well.

Yes. It's a great deal really.

Generally for Home Ed weeks, Col W'burg is $5pp for 1 day, $8 for 2 days, and $11 for 5 days (kids under 6 are always free).

Yorktown/Jamestown are usually $10 or 11 for unlimited entry during the entire HS days. We did the family hs tours at Y/J last time but just went to Col W'burg this time (due to several dental issues on my part). My oldest LOVES Col W'burg and it's the best deal of the 3, so we went there.
