I was going to make some to take camping with us. But, I`m worried about the eggs in it. I make a recipe that calls for eggs and cooking it for a while then refrigeration for 2 hours. Well I cant do that while camping. Don't want to either. I thought about omitting the eggs, but not sure how the consistency would turn out. Any suggestions?
I don't think it would work without the eggs.. like Amy said do you have a recipe with out the eggs...
I heard you can just use a large thing of coffee creamer, any flavor! But here is one oranges 3 lemons, squeezed 3 bananas, blended 1 qt. half and half 1 qt. coffee rich 3 c. sugar Add milk if necessary. Turn in ice cream freezer.
I think I made this, you can add some chocolate pudding mix if you want to flavor it. NO EGGS ICE CREAM Printed from COOKS.COM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 cans Eagle brand milk 2 lg. cans Pet milk 4 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Mix together and freeze in ice cream maker. You can make any flavor you wish.
MIKE'S ICE CREAM WITHOUT EGGS Printed from COOKS.COM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4 lg. cans evaporated milk 3 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. vanilla Dash of salt Mix together the ingredients, pour into ice cream mixer, (the can that you put in the freezer), add 2% milk to full line on ice cream can and stir. Freeze and serve. (4 quart freezer).
Ok, so pretty much use your combo of cream and milk, even a tub of cool whip!! put in the flavorings you want and or candy bar pieces, cookies, fruit etc..... it works.
I NEVER use eggs to make ice cream! LOL Of course, I don't know how you make it when camping...BUT... I use 1 pint light cream, 1 pint heavy cream then either: 1 large pudding mix pack (favorite flavor - I like white chocolate) OR 3 Tbs vanilla flavoring and 1 cup sugar OR 1 cup coffee syrup (like hazelnut) + 1/4 Cup sugar We have an ice cream maker that we mix it all up, add it to the ice cream maker and wait 30 mins... I usually freeze until firm, too...but you could eat it as soft serve. Hope you find something!
