Are either of these programs any good? I am thinking about having Collin use them for his 8th grade year.
    Thanks :)

I personally only have knowledge of the Abeka program and judging from my siggy.................well............I think it is great!:D

The home school book fairs are a good place to check out each individual curriculum to see what you like. I do have to say that there is quite a bit of detail in the Abeka and really nice pics too.

I will add I have had both and Abeka seemed to skim the top of subjects and then ask questions about it. BJU really was much more rich and more in depth. It also had critical thinking type questions and activities.

    Absolutely!
The only drag I ever had is having to do holiday lessons myself, cause they don't get into that. Otherwise, we'll be using BJUP until we stop hsing.

I have only used A Beka history. For the most part, I like it. Grades 1st-3rd are kind of simple but I found that 4th and up have a lot of detail.
This coming up school year will be our first year not using it. I am going to put our lessons together this year. Initially I was going to use it again but decided that I want to study areas that we haven't covered or areas that we liked but study it with more detail.

    I have used both.

IMO, BJU is a more in depth History curriculum.

When using the Abeka history, I found myself having to use more supplemental material.
