My dd officially starts homeschool highschool tuesday week, it is the start of the new school year here. Although she has been working at that level in some subjects for a little while, when people ask what grade she is in, we will now say 7. It is very exciting - for both of us.
Here is what we will be studying:

    • Science: apologia exploring creation with general science
    • French: Allons-y (course book, activity book & CD). Our next door neighbors are French, so I am hoping to rope them in somehow;)
    • History: Home made unit studies, starting with Ancient Egypt. Probably we will do the Aztecs, but I have to put that one together yet. Also Australian history.
    • Geography: combined in unit studies with History, and also parts of a textbook called "global explorations"
    • Maths: New Signpost Maths
    • Music: Cello lessons, 4th grade AMEB, and musicianship (2nd grade), String ensemble, chamber music and junior orchestra at the conservatorium
    • Art: Art & artist through the ages
    • Technology: web design, computer studies, cooking, sewing, jewelery making. I am considering buying the pure & simple computer course. Has anyone used this? Or have recommendations in this area.?
    • Phys Ed/Health/Personal development: Gymnastics, swimming, tennis. PDHPE zone 4 text. Bible studies.
    • English: homemade unit studies, starting with The Secret Garden, then a cinderella study. Grammar - still finishing grade 6 Scott Foresman. Spelling - Aussie spellforce. Lots of different things for writing.

Plenty to keep us both busy, lol.
What are others this age studying?

Cool...I'm assuming is Australia that high school starts in 7th grade....ours here in the USA generally start at 9th grade.....how exciting for her.

Sounds like you have a great plan.

My dd will be in 7th grade next year (which starts in August or so). She'll be doing:

    Rod & Staff English
Teaching Textbooks Algebra I or Finishing Pre-Algebra
Probably All American History, part 2
Possibly English From the Roots Up
We do a variety of our own things for PE, since we can't find a gymnastics class that's not majorly competitive :( MAY look into tennis lessons or swimming--but they're kind of far away.....
For music she'll do piano and voice, and possibly pick up violin again and be in Homeschool Strings Orchestra
"Foreign" Language is ASL (American Sign Language) and maybe Spanish if we find a good program
She may continue in her Italic Handwriting series of books, because she LOVES them!
She'll also do home ec--sewing, knitting and other things

I still have to finalize on what she'll be doing exactly, but these are some definites and some possibilities.

yeah - primary school is grades K-6, and high school is 7-12, with slight variations between states. I know I always get mixed up about how it all works for you;)
