My Ditzy has been doing a minatures class ~ Toy shop model to 1/12th scale. It's now finished & I'm going to take some photos  & post in my blog but thought if someone can explain in really simple language a two year old could understand how to post in here I'd try & post in here too. It's pretty cool & thought it might inspire someone else.

one of the easiest ways to post photos on a forum is to use an image hosting site like Photobucket :)

you register for an account there (it's free for a basic account, and that's all i've ever had - never run out of room or bandwidth/whatever) ...then, you upload your photos and use the IMG link (it will give it to you underneath each photo - several types of links) to paste them in posts in threads....

the code that you'll want will be one like this, without the asterisks...

    [IM*G]http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c258/fivesilverspoons/other/serious_cat.jpg[/IM*G]

pasting that here without the extra asterisks makes a picture appear...if i didn't break the code with asterisks, it would do this:

    picture....

someone else might know how to link 'em directly from your blog - i don't have a blog... it might not allow you...

photobucket is a pretty good site though for hosting images... LOTS of space, lots of bandwidth, easy to follow layout once you've learned your way around, etc etc.. it's my fave... :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you. (grovels unashamedly.) I'll see if I can manage that much. I'll get Ditz to help; she's much better at this stuff than I am.

You can link directly from a site, but it's a lot easier to just use Photobucket. If you link from your own site you have to write the code from scratch, which isn't hard, but can be confusing for a beginner. Sevenwhisker's directions were right on how I do it.

yeah i had initially started to explain how to get the image url and then do the open/close stuff here, but i figured it's so much easier to use PB and have all the work done for ya.

plus, some blog/journal/etc sites don't allow it...

Huh? :? Purple arrows? What purple arrows?

Ok, I'll shout if I get lost. Seeing what I can manage on my own now.

Now, if you want to make it more manageable, click the "edit" above the picture in your photobucket album. You'll be able to size it down.

CAUTION: Once you size it down, you CANNOT size it back up. The only way to get it bigger is to re-upload it again. I take things down one size at a time until I reach the size I want.

Thanks for the help. I'm a visual learner; I need to 'see' each step or no can do.
