Apparently Home Depot has offered these FREE workshops for several years, but I just learned about them last month. It seems every Home Depot conducts them. They feature a woodworking project that involves simple steps such as gluing and nailing. In addition to the project pieces, kids get a nice home depot apron and a pin depicting the specific project they completed, as well as a paper certificate. They are held the first Saturday of every month from 9-12. (At first I thought they were 3 hours long, but I think this is actually the time frame during which you can show up. We were there at 9 and left 40 minutes later with our completed projects--and I had four kids to help, so it would be even quicker if you only had one or two). The Home Depot in Dearborn had a sign-up sheet, but the one in Ohio said to just show up. I guess the rules can vary. The ages are listed as 5 - 12 years old, but the Ohio store let me bring my three-year-olds because parents have to be on hand anyway. The kids really enjoyed this and they were so proud of their projects!! This month's project was a catamaran, and next month's is a bird home. I couldn't get the link to the url to work, so go to Google and type in Home Depot kids workshops and the link should come up
Hey, how have you been? Haven't heard from you for a while, of course I haven't been on here much. We were just talking about how much fun we had meeting you, Jackie and Amy at Salt Fork last fall. We went a couple of years ago to Home Depot. Yes, it was very nice and worth the time. Thanks for reminding me.
LOWES does the same thing , every 2 weeks, 10 am - noon. There is a project, certificate, and sew on patch to go on their apron!! My dd's love it. My dh takes them and it gives me about 30-45 mins of alone time.
