This article was posted by one of my glass buddies. I was so tickled to see my most favorite thing to do and look at in the world (glass) in an article intermingled with homeschooling because of a 10 year old boy's love of glassblowing. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/05/19/DDAE1DER1I.DTL&type=art
That's great! How blessed he is to have found his passion so young. And to have parents who are willing to think outside the box to support him.
That is a great story. It seems that we really don't give enough credit to our children and their interests. Why can't a passion at a young age turn out to be a career at an older age? I think that if more kids could find something to be passionate about maybe we wouldn't have so many people without a clue what they want to do with their lives. Schooling seems to discourage identity driven learning, but we can foster it and help it thrive. We may go against the grain, but our children will be better for it.
What an amazing story. I believe in letting my children get deep into what they are interested in. My daughte is an amazing artist, and especially loves to draw Anime. Although I am not crazy about Anime, her drawing is simply amazing to me. I encourage her all the time to draw and now she wants to expand past the Anime. I can not wait to see what she is capable of doing. We should always encourage our kids and I think what this kids parents are doing for him is awesome! God bless them!!
