OK, I live in the midwest. It snows here EVERY YEAR. I've lived in this area my whole life & cannot remember 1 single year that it has not snowed in winter. It also rains here pretty often.
So, why is it that every year all the idiots in this city forget how to drive in rain or snow? There are basically 2 types of drivers here once snow falls - 1) the morons who figure "My vehicle can handle it" & drive 20 miles over the speed limit when the roads are slippery, covered in ice & snow, and dangerous. 2) the morons who drive 20 miles below the speed limit because there's a light flurry.
The other day, while running errands, I got stuck behind some idiot who falls into the second category. I was going no more than 10mph behind them. Of course, I couldn't get in the other lane because it was full of the group, who just kept speeding by. Now, the roads were kind of slippery, there was snow drifting into the road from the sidewalks, there were a few ice patches, and it was snowing (very lightly, after the foot or so we just got, it didn't really count as snow).
They do the same thing when it rains (or when it's cloudy, or when the sun is too bright). They drive bad enough on a normal, dry day: no turn signals, turn from the wrong lanes, hit the brakes every 15 seconds, swerving around like they just drank a bottle of tequila, etc. Then, the weather gets even remotely bad, and they forget what little they know about driving. It's like being on a road full of Driver's Ed students.
Sorry. We had to go out today & it was flurrying again. So, of course we got stuck driving with all the local morons. Between the idiot drivers & the morons the city hires to 'fix' the potholes, I really hate driving right now. Just needed to vent (I'm trying to keep the road rage to a minimum while the kids are in the car, so I couldn't yell at everyone while we were out).

Vent away. I think those who fall in the second category are being extra careful perhaps they aren't comfortable with their ability to drive in those conditions. You probably wouldnt want those category 2's to graduate into category 3. LOL

I think it is irritating when you have 0 visibility, icy and snow packed and you have some fool who is tail gating you. That happened to us and the guy slid off the road.

We have (foolish) friend who loves to drive fast. He thought it was a good idea to have the cruise control on during icy/snow packed conditions so he wouldnt get a speeding ticket. Well, he had to hit the breaks and lost control and landed in the bar ditch. Cruise control a no-no in those conditions.

Everybody just needs to take it easy, drive the speed which is safe for conditions and be patient.

    (((( ))))

That is annoying. The people who drive slower do not worry me as much as those who are over the speed limit.

Our pass gets dense fog every year for a part of the season. It can be counted on and people who drive the pass everyday know that this is part of the freeway where they need to be very careful, especially in the mornings and evenings.
    BUT!
    They still are not careful.
There have been many pileups on the pass because people assume they are in control but when they hit a wall of fog and have no visibility, they are out of luck and so is anybody who happens to be around them.

Now rain, that is something I know about! It rains here just about everyday in the spring and early summer, then again in early fall. And it is very frustrating when people who have been living here all their lives still do not know how to drive without causing accidents in the rain.

I think people forget how to drive in off conditions. Drives me nuts also. I live in Ohio so we don't have good weather most of the time...LOL...you'd think the drivers would learn.

I'm afraid if I move to Colorado I'll be one of those people that annoys everyone else!!! I have lived my entire life near San Diego. We don't have weather here! It is just hot or not quite so hot. Hopefully I'm a fast learner or someone will be on a message board venting about me! LOL

At least I'm not the only one irritated by people's stupidity. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a few people. Then, I would just figure they were new to the area or something. It's the fact that almost the entire city does it.
As if the citizens being idiots wasn't enough....
Last year, the city used up it's entire budget for plowing & salting by January (again, we get snow every year, and it wasn't until Feb that we got an abnormal amount of snow). This year, they decided not to let that happen again. So, they cut the amount of salt used & had the plows out less often. They finally decided that was a bad idea after at least 5 near-fatal accidents occured because the roads were so bad.
