I am preparing a unit study of Egypt. it is almost finished, but I am stuck. I am up to the topic 'contact with other people' and I want to include bible history - Jacob, moses, exodus, that kind of thing. I am running very low on inspiration. we will read about it all, and make a timeline that combines egypt & bible history. But I am stuck for ideas for projects/assignments. Any suggestions?
We are studing ancient egypt right now too. once we finish our mummies and pyramids lapbooks we are going to do a bit on Joseph and the techincolor dream coat. I plan on having the watch Joseph KIng of dreams animated movie for fun to wrap up the reading we do on it, and we are going to tye die old white men's shirts from the goodwill to add to their play clothes. Otherwise I have no idea for you as we have not gotten to moses etc yet, that comes up later in our book(using sotw)
We're using Story of the World. If you can find someone with the activity book there are a ton of neat ideas in there. We didn't do the part on Joseph because we are doing all that in Bible so I skipped over it in the book. What ages are you teaching?
With a bag of sand some long match sticks or other sticks of some kind, thread and sugar cubes, yuu could try out some of the pyramid building theories like the use of sand ramps etc . This oculd be done in a plastic bin to keep tthings confined.
I have considered watching the movie - unsure if it is too young? Or if we should do some sort of project after watching it? I have loads of activities for pyramids, but specifically I am looking for things that will help us see how bible history is actually part of world history, especially since there is so much overlap with egypt and the movements of the isrealites. But keep the ideas comming...
