I was on, then the monitor went wonky, then I couldn't turn the puter off and it started beeping like it was screaming for help. Turned off power strip. Let it rest and tried again. Was on for a little while, then blank monitor and computer fan fanning like there's no tomorrow. Still won't turn off so I have to turn the whole power strip off. Just tried again, and here I am, but I don't know for how long. Anybody got any ideas what it might be? Cooling system shot? Calling a local computer guy tomorrow, but don't know when I might be back here. I'll go to the library and be on for a little while there. Happy Birthday to me...:|
I don't want to tell you this but it sounds like a fried motherboard. That is how mine limped along after the power surge hit it.
