My little girl wants what she thought was the Creepy Crawler oven for Christmas. BUT, she saw something on a commercial where you bake a goo inside the bug and then you can cut it open afterwards and the goo oozed out. I saw the commercial too, but didn't pay attention to exactly what toy it was. When I checked out the Creepy Crawler box, it doesn't look like the insects can be made with goo inside and I'm not finding anything on internet searches. Do any of you know what toy we saw on the commercial? Could it be the one that makes martians and not bugs?
The Martian one is my fist thought (my son wants it). If it helps, it's made by Crayola so you might find something more out on the crayola site.
My son owns the creepy crawler maker and LOVES IT! You can get it at Toys r Us near near the boys action figures and the like. Here is how it works. YOu have the main piece, which is like an easy bake oven (it uses the heat of a small light bulb for the heat - and it does get hot!) and then several molds. You take what look like bottles of colored elmer's glue (some come with the set, you can buy more colors and molds separately), squirt various colors into the molds, push the mold into the oven, wait a few minutes, turn off the oven, wait for it to cool, pull out the mold (it comes with a tool for this), and voila! Just peel your creepy bug or whatever out and you have a new creepy crawler! It is like an easy bake oven, but for boys (primary market, tho my girls like it too) and you can't eat the end result. Two cautions: 1) it can stink a little bit, so make sure you are in an open part of the house or crack a window - not BAD, but a bit of a funny smell from the baking. 2) It can get hot, so my ds can only do it at the kitchen table with me nearby (ds is 11). I recommend it - it keeps my ds busy for hours! That and the Dr. Demento edible science kit are a lot fun for boys.
