I have Fix It and Forget It. Every time I would see it in the store, I would point it out to Rachael and tell her, "That's what Daddy is getting me for Christmas!", figuring she'd be sure to have Daddy get it for me. Telling Carl would result in, "Huh? Oh, yeah...." and, of course, he'd forget the minute he left the store, lol!

I found this website call "A Year of Slow-Cooking" a while back and bookmarked it. She has a new recipe for every day of the year!

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. Very seldom am I at a campground that has electricity (there were a couple Oregon state parks this summer), not to mention these nice bear safe camping rules at most of the places we camp that don't allow for ANYTHING with a scent to be left out at camp. ;)

WOW!!! We wouldn't consider going to a campground without electricity!!!

Keep in mind also that when we go to Sandy Cove, we're there for a conference. We camp there because it's the cheapest way to go...less than half the cost of staying in the lodge. We wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise. But it means we are VERY limited in the amount of time we have for cooking/eating/cleaning up, due to the tight schedule. Having a crock pot REALLY helps!

I use my crockpot for a lot of things. I even use it to make whole chickens and then put them in the oven for another 30 minutes to brown them up so they look tasty but the meat just falls off the bones. I've used it for making stocks and sauces. Heck, I use it for birthday parties and fill it with nacho cheese sauce for a cheap birthday lunch, because in my house there isn't anyone that doesn't like nachos.

Hey, Rhi, could you post some of those stocks recipes please?

We're having homemade chicken noodle soup in the crock pot tonight. We have staff meeting at church at 9:30, Coop classes at 1, street hockey at 4:30, and soccer at 6. Plus Carl is subbing at a computer class at church tonight, and won't be home 'til late. So dinner's in the crock pot, and we'll grab it as we can. I only wish I had baked bread yesterday to go along with it!

I would if I could but I don't use exact recipes. Usually, I just freeze left over whole chickens and odds and ends from peeling celery, carrots, onions and garlic and then add salt and pepper as well as some Italian seasonings depending on what I'm going to use the stock for. I can't stand wasting left overs so I freeze it and then when I have enough I make stocks out of it.
