Oh no! I didn't know SEARCH closed last year! Now I'm very sad. I live in NJ, and usually go to ENOCH, but this year it is being the held the same week as Harvey Cedar's homeschool week. I can't miss that. I was feeling tempted by GHC in Philly, because I wanted to see Ken Ham, but I also had heard that they have ended up closing down local homeschool group conventions. I won't be going there either. Please tell me that CHAP is going strong, I hope they will be sticking around.

I love going to the conventions. The speakers are inspiring, it is great to browse the curriculum, and see all of those other families who also homeschool.

We haven't been to a conference for a couple of years, but the ones we went to were fun. They didn't cost anywhere near $150, though. Yikes! And they didn't last a week.. Usually they are Friday and Saturday. We have 2 nearby.. The state homeschool group's conference (really BIG in the Woodlands) is $35/couple for both days, and the Regional group is $25/couple. They both have programs for your kids if you want to enroll them, but they are purely optional. You are welcome to have your kids with you as you stroll around the book fair part. They would prefer kids weren't in the workshops. We really enjoyed the ones we went to a few years ago, but haven't really felt a need to go back.
