I found an article online today about a front page article in the New York Post that pictured Britney smoking in front of her two year old and in another picture he was holding a lighter and reaching for her pack of cigarettes. In a final photo, Britney appeared to be taking the things away from him. The NYP attemped to slam Britney for this. What they heck? This is b*ll sh*t to the extreme. Leave her alone. She may or may not be a total screw up. I don't care and it's not my business anyway, but I felt so sorry for her way back when I saw the bru-ha-ha over her almost dropping her baby when she stumbled. The pictures included one of her crying in a shop after the near-dropping. Can you imagine how embarassing and scared you'd be if you did a totally human thing like trip and almost drop your baby? Even when her kid fell out of the high chair. I'm sure plenty of "good" parents have had that happen to them too.
Back to the smoking pics. My DH smokes. He thinks its funny if our one little boy who idolizes him picks up a cigarette stub. You know what? I hate smoking and I hope my kids don't do it but if my little boy chooses to emulate his dad, I can't complain. My DH is the best husband and father that anyone could ask for. He is one of the most decent human beings that I have ever met. I would be proud if my son said he wanted to be "just like Dad".

From Britney to my own doorstep, I am so sick and tired of a culture that promotes nebby-nosed self-righteousness. Is Britney as screwed up as they say, or is it all of this media b.s. that's making her crazy? I know this stuff is starting to eat away at me. . .

But you are talking about a culture (California) that just made it MANDATORY that you cannot be served trans fats in a restaurant because it is BAD for you.

    Smoking is like the anti-christ!

So it's like saying they farted.
    "Yea, What's new?"

Besides they make money off her and she gets in the papers. Bad press, good press, they don't care.. as long as your name is in the news. It's all incestuous. Media/celebrities. They all feed off each other.

Kysg - What a relief to read your post. I've made fun of Britney in the past but now she's a mom trying to raise a kid in the midst of a minefield and I think you're completely right - She should be left alone to do that.

But it is not just California. It is everywhere! I am sick of seeing her face everywhere I look or hearing about her on tv. She is human just like everyone else and IMO it would totally suck to be in her shoes. I wish the media wouldn't worry so much about any of the "stars" because frankly I don't care! I don't care who had what baby or how much their mansion cost and for goodness sakes millions of dollars for baby photos! Come on!

Unfortunately when you are in the public eye whether it be a star or politician, people are going to put you under a microscope and what you do will be on the evening news. Comes with the territory!
