For a long time I've been looking for a Bible curriculum I liked and never could find one.

Turns out the very thing I needed was right under my nose all along! I picked up Sami's Bible "The NIV Adventure Bible" (Zonderkids) and every page of it has stuff for her to do, memory verses, Little "people in the Bible" sections to tell a bit about each person and "Did you know" sections that explain hard words and give Bible facts.

Yesterday we read part of Genesis 1 and she memorized Genesis 1:1. Today we finished Genesis 1 and it had an assignment to write a thank you note to God for creating her in His image.

Tomorrow we turn the page and read about Adam and Eve and the assignment section has her write down what she will say if someone tells her it's alright to do a wrong thing.

Our writing assignments were getting really dull so this works for Bible and writing! I don't know why I didn't think before to look in her children's bible.

What a good idea. I am using the Hands on Bible with my girls. It has lots of ideas and extras in it too but I think yours sounds better. I am going to look in my classroom at church. I think I remember seeing a Bible like your daughter's on a bookshelf there. I would love to have those assignment ideas for writing. Beth

That sounds really good, Syele. It sounds much better and more interesting than some of the packaged Bible curriculums on the market. You are doing a great job. What a good Mom you are !

    Thanks Sherry. :)

Beth, It's a purple Bible with a mountian on the front. Kind of shiny. The assignment ideas are in sections called "Let's live it!"

Amy, that is so true. I had given up looking because I was all out of money to buy anything new. That should teach me to stress over books! :)

Cool, I think we might have one of these around also. A used and tattered garage sale purchase but useful still.

    Thanks.

edited to add, Found it and it is not the battered children's Bible I purchased once, it is like New. The description of puple and shiney helped jog memory. I recall that it was brought down in a box of clothes and books from a neighbors house. I will be looking it over a bit more.
