    Hi ladies!

Just thought I'd post here. . .I used to come here more frequently but then. . .well, life started happening at a pace I couldn't keep up with etc. and in an act of infidelity I started visiting another board. (I know, I'm sorry ladies!)

But life is calmer (we moved to a different state) and I'm up for more chatting!

For those who don't know or don't remember me, I'm Valorie--mom to 5 kiddos ages 9, 7, 5, and 3yo twins and we've always homeschooled. We now live in New England.

Thanks! I'm really hating the winter here. We just moved from New York City. . .I had no idea how much warmer it was there.

Yeah, I'm a fan of winter in New England either. I grew up here and never had a problem with winter....then I moved away, first to Hawaii, then Oregon (it rained all winter but rarely ever snowed) and have been back in Massachusetts for a few years...and the winters are killing me!! I want to move...but dh is happy where he works and all our family is here so thats nice now that we have kids. BUT I WANNA GO WHERE ITS WARM!!

LOL We live in CT. I'm not a fan of rural living either. . .after coming from NYC it's a huge shock. But this, I'm told, is an unusually harsh winter. Very unfortunate.

Hi, Sneaky! I remember when you used to post I'd sometimes think how unique it was to be conversing with a city gal from New York and finding similarities. You say you're in a more rural area now and it's a shock to you. In the same vein, I'm very sure NYC would take some getting used to for me, though I've been there a couple of times--but not to live. Oh, think of the every-day, common things that each of us are used to which would surprise or even frighten the other one!

Do you remember the "Flat Stanley" project that some of us started working on a couple of years ago and which fizzled? Well, I was hoping someone like you would take our "Flat Chickens" to the top of a skyscraper or through the subways. That chance is over now; so *sniffle* I'll never get to do a "Flat Stanley!"

Anyway, nice to see you back!

I remember Flat Stanley! ;-) Yes, we aren't really that rural. . .but it's a world of difference to me. . .plus New England is just distinctively New England.

but I have to say going from being highly regulated to not having to turn in nothing for homeschooling totally rocks! ;-) And the kids do love it. . .but we were sad to leave the city.

Hey the New England winters aren't that bad. Shute we are FINALLY getting snow. Our first two winters were not that bad. Last year was okay but I wasn't around for it much but drove thru some nasty weather due to a short move. This year I don't mind because I don't have to go out and about. Hubby can get what we need on his way home from work.
Anyhoo welcome back to the site.

Why thank you very much ladies! ;-) I'm a big whimp when it comes to cold. I like to be toasty warm all the time. I LOVE summer and rarely hate it when it's hot. I'm going to be one of those old ladies that always complains about how cold it is. ;-)

I'm not sure how long you've been gone, so I don't know if we've crossed paths, but welcome back anyway. :)

Ya know. . .I'm not sure either but I realized that my siggy is waaaaayyy out of date. I don't write for any of those anymore so that has to be at least 8 months.

I went to another forum that had reviews on the site and then got a little addicted. . .but you guys are much nicer. ;-)
