I was at a used book sale this morning (fundraiser for our local hospital) and bought a pile of books, mostly novels, but there was a book there that I thought maybe someone here might be able to use - if somebody wants it, just pm me and I'll send it to ya. I know some people here do Latin; we don't, and probably never will. It's an older book - it looks like it might be the older version of this -- same title, same author, same-ish looking contents, just older. The copyright date in this is 1962, whereas the date on the indigo one is 1992.... totally different cover. My cover is black & white only. Here is what my book says: Title: Latin Made Simple "A comprehensive course for study and review by Rhoda A. Hendricks" "Doubleday Made Simple Books" On the back, it says: Contents: Latin Grammar Guide to Pronunciation Latin in Vocabularies of the Sciences and Professions Original Texts and Translations Familiar Qoatations, Words, and Phrases Derivations and Etymologies Reviews Latin/English Basic Dictionary and the blurb on the back says: " Latin Made Simple is a complete introductory course designed by an experienced teacher to develop the ability to read Latin. Grammar is explained as simply as possible without sacrificing thoroughness or clarity. The basic vocabulary enables a student to begin translating Latin after a minimum of study. Practice readings introduce more advanced words and sentence structures and lead quickly into the writings of Caesar and Cicero. Latin Made Simple is a modern. astonishingly effective presentation of a great classical language, organised in a self teaching method that is unexcelled for the student who must study alone." it's got a few tiny pen marks in it, but hardly - it looks like whoever used it just made a tiny note here and there to themselves....it's still extremely useable for someone. But not for us. Anybody want a free latin book? I figured somebody somewhere in the HS community might be able to use this, that's why I snagged it from the table. Edit: oh, and it's not really for young kids - unless you'd be using it to teach yourself and then teach them. More for older ones.
