Today's the day! My very first day of homeschooling, officially anyway. We're going to school year round, 3 months on one month off schedule. Wish Us Luck! We're staring easy with just a couple of workbooks today and piano lessons.
YEA!!! We actually started last week so day was just another day. Granted we are going away tomorrow for a couple of days - and I must say packing clothes for kids who have no idea we are going somewhere is NOT an easy task I'm making it laundry day so I can swipe clothes as I take them out of the dryer and pack them later on!
Hope your day is going well (it's lunch time here). We've been going for a month or so. Actually today is a "light" day because DH is off of work (but out of the house for a few hours so we're squeezing in some stuff). Give us an updated later! Rhonda
We were going to start tomorrow. But we are stuck in the house today because of Gustav. So, we started today. We are going light this week with a unit study of Washington DC. We will start our official curriculum next Monday.
We started this morning.. we were supposed to just go over the work and then have our "skip day" and run off to movies but since they are not running our movie till later the kids begged to get started on thier school work! Dd is doing History and Geography, ds is working on the school logo project. We are having a contest to see who can come up with the best logo. On Friday we will print and iron on the logos on thier t's. Ds is so excited to do History ! I am thinking I will be reworking his scedule already though cause he really wants to get into it! STOW looks so organised! I am wondering with the questions and stuff .. may start a thread! ANyway, SO we went over stuff, discussed how it will work and handed out equiptment! Ds11 was so excited to see I gave him his own package of Pens! HIS OWN PACKAGE lol! he showed them off to his sister and said "ALL MINE!" lol! you'd think I'd given him chocolate! We are off to a good start, the house is quiet and they are doing school work! I don't have a lot planned for ds first week becuase of dd doing SOS I wanted to give myself time to check on her and him to walk into school work... next week we get busy though. Today I am getting lesson ready for tonights class, next weeks too cause I am alternating now finally! YEAAAAAAAAAAH! OH! I have a teaher tonight too! cool! I love the first and third weeks I have help, ( I organise and ocasionally teach a group of kids from recovery families while the adults have BIBle study) Lots of fuN! SO normally tuesdays will be down at hte church with Ladies bible study and setting up lessons for PM, then home after classes in the evenings... I always forget to schedule that in but it works out. Ds was also excited as to how I set up his Science in a binder, already pulled pages, and the flap tabs for english! HE can't wait to do school he even said "School is going to be so much fun this year I wont want it to end!" weee! Mission accomplished?
We are starting today. Afterwards, we are going downtown to ride the trolley car and dine out. Tomorrow's our local homeschooling support group's annual "Not back to school picnic." Should be fun. I'm making pasta salad to take for the pot luck. I'll be taking lots of pictures!
We also started today. Mostly hitting the basics....writing, math, & grammar. And as always, piano practicing. Tomorrow is the first day of our homeschool co-op for the year. Carol
We are in our 4th week of school. I think next year I will start later,so we can have more summer. I was just so excited since it is my first year, I couldn't wait. Good luck to everyone! McKinsey
we half started yesterday, i say half as we had dental appointments for the kids, hospital appointments for DH and hospital appointments for me all in different places. that kinda took most of the day up.
2 days so far around here. so far so good. The only think that gives me a little greif is the "easy grammer". I know , I know it's EASY ! Right? Well I think I"LL be learning a lot this year too ! Who knows maybe even my spelling will improve.
we started today as well. I was very scared to homeschool both of the girls but I think it will work out
