We did a unit on Antarctica with dd year before last. She hated it, and I had to re-work it halfway through. So now I am re-working it again as ds will do it when we start back to hs in feb. I have loads of resources that I am sifting through, I just wondered, did any of you ever study Antarctica, and if you did, what was the BEST thing you did?

What did she hate about it? I think it could be really fun!! (But I've never studied at all). My mom went there and she loved it!

My Ditz did this & loved what we did. I had to scrap the curriculum. She couldn't cope with people eating the dog team. We did a study on krill ~ I got a drawing that could be coloured & labled off the net & lots of info. We did plant forms ~ yes, there is plant life in Antarctica & best of all we did a very small study on the only Antarctic animal ~ the anti~freeze mite. This was short mostly because I was struggling to understand what information I could get, let alone Ditz! Go with whatever interests him. He may enjoy the race for the pole & the explorers more than my Ditz did.

it was just a read this then answer these questions type thing. I used the book straight - and then halfway through changed it up to have more practical ideas. Because I did it on the hop, I am going back through it now, making many improvements.

I just found this great site:
