    Ok, Fellow Ohio Moms!

Do we have to keep lesson plans? Most of my stuff we just move onto the next lesson/page and I don't really need to plan it out.

I've also sent in my form about a week and a half ago . I know the school district has 2 weeks to respond to me. Do I need to do anything if they don't respond back to me? I have proof that I mailed it and proof that they received it.

    Thanks!

Hey! I only send in the required form and then it's a done deal. I don't keep track of hours, lessons or anything for the state. I do take the option of having my kids take the standardized test to fulfill the law's requirements. In doing so, I do not need a teacher to look over the work and sign a paper. If you choose to have a teacher look over the work you may have to keep some records or tests...not really sure.

If you do not hear from them you may want to give them a call. My district is a bit different...we have a home school office that we can contact. They are very friendly and helpful. My district also offers free standardized testing. So, I'm not sure if calling is feasible or where you would call. However, I'd give it two weeks and either call or send another letter just to be sure. Since you have proof you sent the letter and they got it...and technically there is nothing they can do to prevent you from homeschooling...you don't have to do anything. I just think it's nice to cut off any issues at the pass.

You do not have to keep lesson plans to show to the State. You just have to sign the form that states you will teach the number of hours they require (I forget the exact number) It is easy to get to those hours, life is learning!! :)

I would wait out the full time before doing anything, they could just be bombarded with all the other homeschoolers and are getting behind in processing the paperwork.

I'm mailing mine in on Friday, schools here don't start until the 25.

    You are doing just fine!!

I do the oral assessment, like what Ava Rose talked about above me and I still don't keep records, I have their portfolio and the paper from the assessor, but that is it.

Thanks! My best friend is also homeschooling and we are both certified teachers. We will just sign off on each others form. Since we talk all the time, she is fine if she doesn't see actual lesson plans! I'm so glad- I hate lesson planning!

It is so nice! We are very similar in what we do and even our curriculum choices so we will be able to do big projects together!

I just mailed my paperwork on Monday & *claim* to be patiently waiting....which is a lie, I'm a nervous wreck! I hope my district doesn't take as long.
