The following is a prayer request that I posted on another board that I'm on. We could use as many people praying over this matter as possible! I know we have alot of prayer warriors on this board, so please remember this situation in your prayers- I appreciate it!

I think I've told you before about a little girl named Destiny~ her mother is unstable and had asked us to adopt Destiny when she was little~ we would have loved to, but didn't want the responsibility of adopting her mother as well! Anyway, I've just had a soft place in my heart for this child since the day she was born~ it's hard to explain~ but I've always felt like she would someday be in our family~ when the time was right...........

Anyway, I had to pretty much cut ties with the situation because the mom is something of a "leech"~ she attaches herself to people and won't let go.........

Today when I got home from running around with my mom~ I had 3 messages from her~ asking me to call her back immediately. She hasn't called in a few years~ so I was curious........

She's going to the hospital~ says there are about a million things wrong with her~ I feel the biggest issue is mental~ anyway, she wondered if we'd keep Destiny and I said "yes"~ but I also made it very clear to her that we'd like to "have" Destiny~ not just while she's gone but always if she would feel the need........

So, anyway, if you dear ladies would keep this matter in your prayers over the next few days I would so much appreciate it~ maybe they won't keep the mother in the hospital~ but, if they do, it will take some adjusting to make room for this child in our home~ and she will need alot of prayers. I will keep you posted.

Oh, on a side note~ I just mentioned to Brian yesterday if he thought we could possibly adopt again and he said that, as much as he loves Gracie, we just cannot borrow money for another adoption. Is this God's way of adding to our family?! I don't know. Just please help me out here with your prayers! You ladies are great!

I hope things work out for you and the little girl and your family. I hope that you will be able to adopt her and get a release from the mother. ( I would think that you would have to have a long talk with the little girl to be sure she wants to be adopted)

Yes~ Amy~ you are very right about that!
If this is supposed to happen, all parties need to be willing and ready to make it work out. That's why it requires ALOT of prayer.
    Thanks,

You know you are lifted up in prayer here! Love to you and Brian as you allow God's hand to work in your life!!
I think it is wonderful that you are willing to open your home to Destiny. She would be lucky to have you in her life.

Good luck to you Heidi, I am in a similar situation with my Sara. She is mentally slow. Just smart enough to get herself in trouble but not smart enough to get herself out. The problems I have had is Sara was raised in a home where negative behaviors were acceptable.Convincing her that eating food in the grocery store without paying for it is stealing. It takes patience and understanding ,along with a predictable routine to deal with her. Everybody thought I was nuts for helping her. The only person that LOVED this girl passed away and she could not take care of herself. I couldn't sleep at night If I had not taken on the project.
It has been trying to say the least but, When she does something she was sure she couldn't, As she is learning better she is doing better. She has even picked up my phrase "I'm allergic to stupid".The rewards are wonderful. It delites my heart to see her do good. She sees that and tries really hard.

Heidi... will be praying for this - God works in weird ways sometimes and this may be His way of working this one out for you. What a lucky little girl if she does live with you on a full time basis :D

Heidi, I have two friends, both had "miracle" adoptions. It is absolutely amazing how "circumstances" will sometimes work together! Will be praying for you!

Heidi, what did Destiny's mother say when you said you wanted to keep Destiny for good?
Did she sound as though she was ready to give up custody?

    Where is the father?

    Becky~
This situation has been ongoing since this child was born (she'll be 9 in February).
I have had to distance myself from it several times, for fear of allowing myself to get my hopes up.
Anyway, yesterday, the mother thanked me for feeling that way and I said "no, I don't think you understand- I mean we'd like to "have Destiny" to keep her. And she did say "thanks" again.
As for the dad, he was an affair that the mother had- an older man- who has no contact with Destiny. He really can't be much of a man at all, to know he has this child and not intervene in a bad situation.

UPDATE~ Destiny did go "home" to her mother last night, as the hospital refused to keep her- she's one of those patients that they see coming and run the other way!

Heidi, I am praying for you to get pregnant again. I think God may be working on that.

    Love to you,

Do they not want to help her? How aweful that a hospital wouldn't want to try and save someone from falling to pieces. Esp. with a child involved.

Maybe things will still work out for you Heidi. Prayers and big hugs to you and your family. What a blessing it would be to have this work out for you.
