I see that this is a wonderful group and I'm very glad to have found it! I live on the southside. We've been here for five years and will be here another two years, at least, but likely longer than that. Who knows, though, because God is always changing things on us just when we get comfortable. From your name, I would assume you're from Seattle? I have family near there and further out in the state. Thank you for the welcome! Nice to "meet" you!
When you say southside, are you talking down by the NC border? If you're every up this direction let me know!
I should have been more specific, sorry about that, but I'm in Hampton Roads on the southside. I'm about 10 miles from the HRBT, so that should tell you approximately where I am. I have a couple friends up on the pennisula, so I do go up there once in awhile. However, since the birth of my son, I haven't been up there and until he becomes more car friendly, I won't chance the tunnel traffic. Sure, if you ever want to get together, let me know!
Are you a member of the Hampton Roads Homeschoolers on yahoo? If not they are always posting things. They also have homeschool park day on Weds at Sandy Bottom every week.
Actually, I am! I've never gone, because the way Yahoo is set up, it's hard to really let anyone know you're coming and I wouldn't know who to look for. And now with my son, like I said, I won't chance the tunnel traffic until he becomes more car friendly. I've learned a lot from the boards, though! Maybe someday in the near future I'll work up the nerve to come to park and meet everyone! Have you ever gone?
We went every Weds after Christmas this past year- depending on the weather. We've only gone once this year so far, but people just started going again. We're going to try and go next week but dd has an appt at 11:45 in Yorktown so I don't know if we'll be going or not. We have friends we met there who are moving next week so we want to see them one more time before they are gone. Come join us sometime. Let me know if you decided to ever come and that way you'll know least one person to look for.
Thanks, Kim, I will definitely let you know when I decide to go! In the meantime, if you're ever down this way, let me know.
hiya! welcome! we are a foster family as well, now waiting for a 5 year old girl that will come this week or next week to stay with us until there is a family found where she can stay till she is 18 (and older). So we have to check in what sort of family she could be placed best... welcome!
Thank you, Patricia, for welcoming me, too! I've read your story with this girl and know that I am praying for her and your family as well! Her situation is so sad, and unfortunately, all too common these days. Praying for all of you and those involved!
