Devotional for an 8 year old girl...

We use Alpha Omega Lifepacs for our Bible curriculum. And I actually like it b/c it is my daughter's favorite subject. They are not real in depth and told in very "kid" way...but she loves them (she's told me outright she'd revolt if I ever changed her bible curriculum!). LOL

Anyway, this unit she's on now is all about memorizing the order of the books, where they are what type, etc. and how we should daily read the bible, study it, etc...emphasis on personal devotional time.

I haven't really done it much WITH her...I always do my devotions alone, at night, after she's in bed, so its not something she "sees"....I refer to the bible a lot, show her scriptures a lot. We use scripture to explain reasoning for discipline and the like.

What would you guys do for a devotion - something that can be personal for her. I was thinking about giving her the "Who I am in Christ" list of scriptures and maybe take one a week and really study it, pray over it, reflect on it.

OR...are their premade kid devotionals out (not looking for serious in depth study - she is only 8 - but something age appropriate).

I bought a book for my son for Christmas that is a one year study bible for children. It's actually just 365 Bible devotions written in a VERY kid friendly way. They are short enough to keep their attention but long enough to get the point across. That's actually what I am using for his entire Bible curriculum now.

I know a few who use Doorposts. I am not familiar with it but those who use it tend to like it. I was thinking of taking a glance at it myself.

My 8 year old has the Patch the Pirate devotional.

Our church has this group (Patch Club) meeting for the youngsters on Wednesday nights. Before our church had this group I ordered this devotional for my girls. At that time they gave me a discount for being a homeschooler.

Very good material, age appropriate for 6-12 year olds.
whatever you are, be a good one...

Patch the Pirate is awesome! I know churches who switched from Awana to Patch the Pirate. Our church still does Awana but our plays were Patch. The kids loved it. My dd even has a few patch cds.
