Dinosaur Days! w/Free Download Links

Dinosaur Days!

We were supposed to start our Human Body Lap Book / Unit Study, this week. And we were suposed to start our American Independance LapBook / Unit Study, as well... Well, then I found this great FREE site and made the mistake of showing it to my kids who began to lobby me to change the schedule to, "Do DINOSAURS first"!
Sigh . . .
So, we will be doing Dinosaurs, first!

Let me tell you about this free site...
Many of you may be aware of it, already. It is called:
http://www.learningpage.com
They require you to be a "Member" but it is free and I simply give my trash yahoo address, used only for signing up for things like this.
(Good hint, by the way. Make a new yahoo address simply for the things you sign up for, and all that garbage does not fill up your personal email account)

They have MANY MANY MANY free pintables. Some divided by Letters, Numbers, Measurement.... Some divided by Science topic, such as Ocean Life, Insects, and Dinosaurs.... They even have their own book series with sets of worksheets and pintables that go with the free downloadable books....

Now the science section has Cross Curriculum Sheets for EACH subject!
We Have Math, Grammar and Science Worksheets for the appropriate grade level (From PreK to 3rd grade) so all my kids can work along side each other. (And Apparently Dino Math is MUCH more fun that regular math.....In case you did not get the "Memo") Haha!

Did I mention it was FREE????

As we discovered the Dinosaur section, itself divided up into sections. (Each of the science sections have the same "Sections". They have Teacher Note, they have Lesson Plans, they have MURALS! (You print each sheet then hang on wall), they have Fact File Sheets for studying, and they have much more...
So, here are a few photos of us beginning our Dinosaur days...

Here is a DIRECT Link tot he Dinosaur Information. (You have to be a member to get it, but it is free...) Click HERE
Here are more links to more FREE Dinosaur Stuff that we plan to use.... (Most is in PDF Form!!)

Dinosaur Report Form (Book)
I print with a 2 per page setting on my printer to get two pages on one sheet, which saves paper and reduces the book size to mini book size, to fit better in lapbook.

Dinosaur Coloring Pages and Handwriting
Twelve Pages of coloring and tracing of the names. I would NOT consider this a "Handwriting" page, but maybe for the youngest set. But the pages are FUN to color for all ages and make for GREAT covers!

Dinosaur Graph
How big were the dinosaurs? Graph their sized and see for yourself! Two pages, and if you print them 2 per page, you get both on one sheet small enough to fit in lapbook, and still clear and readable!

Dinosaur Memory Game Cards
These are cards that work best printed in black and white on thick paper, some call it "Card Stock". Some call it "TagBoard". This is silhouetted images of dinosaur shapes two of each. Just like the classic memory game, you place them randomly on the table, turn two over, if they match, you keep them. They do not match, you loose.

This Dinosaur...Early Reader BookA Mini-Book
Print out the following pages to make a This Dinosaur... early reader book for beginning readers. Have the students cut out each square page. Staple the pages together at the left, then read the book, color the pages, and write the phrase, "This dinosaur ..." directly under the printed phrase. 8 Pages. You can download all 8 at one time, if you are a member of enchanted learning. If not, no worries, they are still free, you just have to download one at a time.

Dinosaur World Map
Tab Book

This is a mini-book that uses TABS at the top. Very cool. It is 8 pages of continents with miniature Dinos that have had their bones found on the corresponding continent. Cute, but only in black in white.

Three Matchbooks...
Matchbooks are simply printed on one sheet, or in miniature, depending on how big you want them. You then write the answer inside of it, and fold it up, like matchbook, get it?
What is a Paleontologist?
What does Extinct Mean?
What does dinosaur Mean?

Where were the Dinosaurs on the Ark?
This is a "Christian" website devoted to giving answers to many questions, such as those. This is a direct link to their page about dinosaurs. Many articles.

Ok, that is it for now.
When we finish, I will get more pictures!

Good luck!

OH my goodness. I'm so glad you're doing exactly what I'm doing, only a few weeks before we do it. I love you. Have I said that lately?

Thanks!

We did the soalr system one 2 years ago. It was AWESOME!!! I'll have to see if I can find the pics of it, if you'd like. We did a hall wall of black paper & printed, coloured, glued the planets on.

My twins did the Solar System as their first lap book, and they learned SOOOO much that I was SOOOOLD on lapbooking right at that moment.

This was this past spring and they (just turned 7) can STILL tell you all the stuff they learned! (Retention).

However, we are thinkning of using the 10 for a dollar brad pocket folders for our projects, instead of the manilla folders, because at this age, they tend to do more sheet work and a few cut outs...

So we could combine all their sheet works in the three hole punch brads, and hav their little cut n paste projects either pasted inside or slipped into the pockets...

We'll see how that works...

And when I say they do more sheet work, verses cut outs, I know some will think it is backwards...

I mean simple things like their math, grammar and science work is all laid out from this site, as a set.. so they are doing IN PLACE OF their regular math work, they do the DIno Math. (It is spot on with what they would be doing anyway...) SO they are not doing MORE sheet work.. they are REPLACING what they would be doing anyway...

Again, I will have to see how it works out and I will report back.

This is why I do not post much anymore, by the way.... we are already doin' school!
