headphone dangers - my son got jolted

This happened yesterday and we bought the headphones Saturday from Wal-Mart. The kind we bought was this http://www.maxell-usa.com/index.aspx...a=info&pid=193 type. Fortunately my son had them plugged into his MP3 player and not his plugged in laptop!

I called them this morning and the woman that answered the phone didn't even listen to me the first time I called she just automatically put me on an automated line (first and second mistake). Then I hang up with that and call back, apparently she is the only person there answering the phones cause she picked up again and got an attitude with me telling me "Well I told you what they were going to say...." (strike three) I cut her off at the quick and told her all about her behind... "EXCUSE ME! You didn't even listen to me the first time I call....My son got jolted by your darn headphones...." and got a much more human response immediately.

They are going to send me a return envelope so they can "examine" the headphones themselves and find out why my son got jolted (my son already check and the wires are frayed on the inside - he took the jolting very personally). They are also sending us two new upgraded headphones, this time without the inside the ear parts!

I honestly doubt they are going to do anything so I am posting this here so that if you or anyone you know gets headphones like this you can be aware. If my son had plugged those into a regular radio or the computer, this might have been a much different message.

I bought the exact same headphones for Elijah and Gianna for vacation to wear with their DVD player. I will check them to make sure they are ok.

Ohio Grandma, my son had to actually take the headphones apart to find out the inside wires were frayed. We only had them two days when he got shocked. We could only see the fraying when he took the blue piece off and looked at the wire itself.

We will check them right away. Dh and Elijah just went to Disney Quest, they will not be back for a while, I will definately check them. We cannot drive all the way home (1,000 miles) without DVD player and headsets

How scary for you all. I am glad your son wasn't injured. I am so cautious about our hearing since we have had Babyboy in our lives. I don't even like for the kids to wear headphones. Beth
