quarterly report

My quarterly report is due tomorow and i am have a couple of questions. Do you guys use the form the school sent you or make up your own? Do you use number/letter grades or Satisfactory/Excellent....
Iprobably should have thought about this waaaay before now but with new baby everything is kinda piled up around here. Also my daughter "failed " her reading (43) but we reviewed and retook the test should i use the first grade or the second...
ok this report is going to be late *sigh* i was trying to make a good impression on the school

What state are you in? It would help to know so someone from your state will be more likely to chime in.

Here in PA we don't have to have a quarterly report and we are one of the "strictest" states, I'm guessing maybe you are in NY?

I have to keep a portfolio containing a reading log and samples of work, I don't grade anything really, if I had to turn in grades I guess I would most likely just turn in Letters or O(utstanding), S(atisfactory), A(cceptable), and I(mproving).

I don't have to do quarterly reports, but as far as the reading test goes, you might consider averaging the two scores, unless you re-taught her to where you feel the second test is an accurate portrayal of how much she knows.

Depends on your State!

In my state, we don't have to do quarterly, ownly yearly.
I don't use the forms that I get from the county, I use the forms I get from my Homeschool Insurance company.
They recommend that you don't use the forms from your school district because we don't want to give them to much info., as I'm told.
I think it has to do with them trying to get rid of Homeschooling in the future.
So, I just use the other ones and have never had a problem.

You do not need to put grades on your quarterly. You just need to state what material you have gone over and progress made or areas you are working on. You are supposed to list the number of hours but that can be cumulative (not needed per subject area). Don't forget you can use field trips, sunday school, church choir, sports.... in your cumulative hours. Your annual assesment should discuss progress made but that is the only place you need to discuss that.

Just so you know I do not think I have ever turned in my quarterly on time. I do not even think my district reads them. I am pretty sure they just check them off that you have sent in and then file them away.
