Unhappy Rainy weekend-

Well there is another storm headed our way and it's closer than the last one. Sure you all heard the news about the little girl at Acadia. Anyhoo hubby has decided to cancell our camping trip and it's rescheduled for end of September! It will be our last camping trip in the states for three years. I did learn that there are cabins in Japan to camp in so I look forward into checking that out. I will be taking the sleeping bags and a few other camping supplies with us when we move but the TT goes back to my parents for the next three years. We still owe on the camper so we cannot just up and sale it. Good news is that it will be paid off when we return so the $$ we would use as a payment can go towards camping. The bunks are a bit short for anyone over 65 inches but still long enough for my kids when I get back.
My concern is long term storage with the camper. My dad suggested going to the RV dealer and ask him. Or calling since they are a hour away. I know some of you ladies have or had RVs what did you do with long term storage?

well long term storage is easy, clean the tanks out good, if you are in a state that freeze you have to put stuff in your tanks so the pipes don't freeze. First you empty all the water, and stuff out tank and then put antifreeze in tanks and empty all other things out of camper. It's easy not hard to do .....
just don't want pipes to freeze.. in refridgerator put rolled up newspaper in it after you clean it out.. keeps the musty smell out and leave the doors open a crack.
other then that, thats it.. I will ask dh tonight if theres anything else ok.

Deena, there were some people at Acadia National Park in Maine that got swept away. Some were rescued, but a little girl died. I don't know all the details.

TT, I would guess, would be Travel Trailer.

Most places that sell RV's either store them, or know of places that do. We keep our pop-up in the garage, which I'm not too excited about. Carl's ex-fil (they're still good friends!) has lots of land, so we're considering asking if we could store it there. We don't need to have it inside anywhere!

Too bad you aren't here! I have a storage lot we just opened and don't have any business yet (which is really getting to dh). The only things on the lot are our tiny little enclosed trailer for hauling things and our PUP.

I did hear about that little girl - so sad.

We have done winterizing, it's just that it will sit for three years not used. That is the concern we have. What can go wrong in three years?

I have been wanting to buy a TT for years! We used to have one but when I got pregnant with Grace we had to sell it. We have a PUP but it isn't the same - it is just as much work as setting up a tent only much more comfortable. We plan to buy another but we have to pay these darn credit car bills off first and foremost. Sometimes I sit at the computer and look at Craigslist and dream about the TTs I can't afford.

Wow! Have fun in Japan! I did a month in Yokosuka as a midshipman. MWR has an excellent outdoor gear rental shop there and the other Navy base probably does too, so you might save on space and leave camping gear home. The homes (and everything) there are so small. It's like living in munchkin land (and I'm 5'2").

Be sure to climb Mt. Fuji while you're there! It's one of the coolest experiences of my life!!! You're going to have so much cool stuff to do for homeschooling there!!! I wonder if MWR's Japanese Tea Ceremony classes can count as curriculum?! I wish I had been there long enough to take those!
