Today's test results....

I am sooooooooooooooooooooo happy!!!!!

Turns out, my daughter's achievement is way beyond where they would have expected based on her learning disability that she does indeed have!!!

To be specific...her scores for achievement went from above average to very superior (highest catagory) but her IQ and other testing in the other areas ranged from above average to borderline (which is beneath low). There was one exception in that her nonverbal IQ score was in the very superior range, but still much lower than her math achievement level.

I know it is silly to be excited about a learning disability...but you know what this means????????????????????????????????????????????? ???

She never would have gotten to where she is today...without HOMESCHOOLING!!!!!

yay!!!!!! Just when I was really questioning myself!!! Just when...

You just would not believe the psychologist talking to me and explaining how shocking the high achievement scores were compared to the other scores. And some of her processing and visual memory scores were sooo low. One score was so low, if all her scores had been that low, (scores are averaged so she is not) then she would be in the mentally "retarded" (not a word I use, but I did not know how to otherwise explain this) range..which is not the word for it anymore..it is called "very low."

That's great news.

Did they give you any strategies to manage the LD?

Glad you finally have some answers....for some of the issues going on at least.

Although our DD hasn't been formally given those psycho-ed tests yet, we know from OT that she has some similar issues that are being addressed in occupational therapy and we're in the process of getting our insurance to pay for the rest (but we have to get the school district to say whether they'll test her or not...).

Anyway, like you, I just want to know "exactly" what the issues are so we can address them.

You might check out www.diannecraft.com. She's highly recommended by HSLDA and others and has some things you can work on at home. I have her Brain Integration Therapy manual and am reviewing it now to implement after we get DD tested (either from the school dist or privately....only going thru the school to get our insurance to continue to cover the OT bill).

She has some great things for processing delays.
