Non-Homeschooling-Related "UGH" moment.

Sorry ladies.... but I still haven't racked up enough point for the 'other' category & am just having one of those moments......

So here I sit.... going on 11PM... because my 13 mo old daughter has decided it's playtime.

Now, this wouldn't normally be an issue... since we homeschool & can sleep in 'til whenever we want.

However, I have to be up at 4AM to drive my father (whose eyesight is too bad to drive) to Dallas to see my half-brother who is dying..... Oh yes.. and then either get a hotel tomorrow night -- in which my daughter will NOT sleep -- or turn around and drive back home tomorrow night --- a 5 hr trip.

Oh, and did I mention I've got my own monthly visitor reeking havoc on me as well?

If I'm lucky, I might get to sleep on Friday.

*sigh* -- that's all... no real point to this post.... just rattling on.....

Rattle away.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. My boys always pick the most inopportune moments to stay up all night.

I wish I had some insight for you... but... um... Red Bull works well?

I feel for you. I'm having my "visitor" too...it took about three days of horrible cramping just to get started!

Sorry about no sleep! I'm sure everyone here feels your pain!

I was like that several nights ago only I couldn't sleep (3 am) so I got on here. Not too long after that I hear "ma ma" and realize my 1 yr old dgd is up. I tried to go back to bed, but she reminded me of an older child who knew it was their bday (she turned 1 yesterday) and couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned and poked and FINALLY went back to sleep. One thing hard at that age is you really can't force them! The 2 yr old is getting to the point where if it's bedtime and she's not sleepy she will at least attempt to be quiet. I hope you get some sleep soon!

I am sorry I have recently had some hard times as well. Try to make sleep a priority. Even if it is just a nap in the car while your kids are asleep (not driving of course!) You need sleep. If you get stressed out your kids will sense that and then they will act out and make things worse. SLEEP is very much needed for everybody.

Also I heard something that was way to funny and true. "Benedryl is not addictive to kids, but it might be for Mom's" hehe But it works when you really really need it. I am anti druging your kids, but when I went through a similar thing, I was going to have to be driving a long distance with just the kids and I. It was a major safety issue I had to get some sleep. (we were in a hotel and ds wouldn't sleep) So I gave him a dose, and I do not regret one minute of it. I would rather him get a little dose of meds then me crash while I am driving.

Just an FYI on the Benedryl: It often has the reverse effect, so don't try it out on a night that you really do need sleep. It makes my boys wired. I mean, bouncing off the walls wired. And this reaction is common enough that the warning label in the package actually says, "may cause excitability in small children."

oky, I have a question.. is your 13 yr old not responsible enough to be awake while you sleep? OR does she just keep you awake?
I have only recently gone to sleep with my kids still up while they finished a movie or something, but other than that they are at least in thier rooms. Dd 14 reads into the nights sometimes because its such a good book... would your dd find that something quite to do?
